Grateful
Pros:

Clean firm Queen bed, clean room and bathroom

Cons:

The duvet cover was too small for the queen sized bed, and we kept pulling each other open.
The pillows are too soft.

Good for a night at Max.
Pros:

The view from the rooms. The staff were also attentive to all our needs. When we checked in the power kept tripping and they changed our room.

Cons:

The hotel feels a bit basic in decor and also a bit dated. The rooms felt damp because it’s right opposite the sea and the floors felt wet and cold. We were there in June, so it’s winter, but we also stayed in other places in hermanus that did but feel as cold and damp as it was here.

Weekend away with Mom
Pros:

Staff were helpful but basic amenities were lacking. Old and unclean bedding. Tiny amounts of handwash and shampoo were left there. Hairdryer did not work! The view was the only quality of this place. Would not recommend!

Great
Pros:

Breakfast was good. I cannot eat gluten. Which was’nt an issue ar all.
Beautiful setting. We made a late booking the night of our stay. Staff very helpful and accomodating.

Cons:

I think the building itself may need a bit of work. I suppose being that close the sea will be a chsllenge.

Disappointed
Pros:

Quite disappointing. Was so excited to stay at this hotel because of the location and amazing views but the service and cleanliness of the hotel was a big let down. Rooms are shabby and really need maintenance and the breakfast was a disaster. Most of the food was leftovers from supper the night before and the plates/dishes were still dirty like they hadn't been washed. Amazing location but not worth the hefty price per night. Facilities really need some quality work.

We did enjoy our stay thanks to friendly, front of house staff.
Pros:

Breakfast reasonable but not what is expected from a 4 star hotel.
Crockery and cutlery old, glass chipped. Again not what is expected from a 4 star hotel. However, meals we had in the restaurant, at night were excellent!
Staff are excellent, doing their best to assist, where management fails them

Cons:

Hotel rely on its excellent location to mask lack of maintenance. We were moved twice due to broken window clips, baloney, and shower doors. Showers in bath in very unsafe and slippery. Tiles in shower (3rd room we were moved to, extremely slippery. Duvets poor quality and to small for the beds. Housekeeping should check room before quests arrive and immediately report maintenance issues
