Location wins everything else lets it down
Pros:

Central location very easy to get to.

Cons:

Hotel is tired, staff seem like they don’t want to be there - was only greeted upon reaching reception despite walking past the man on the door and a couple of other members of staff, rooms are badly decorated and bathroom wasn’t very clean, it has such potential to be amazing but lacks a lot.

Fabulous Experience
Pros:

Quirky and unique, not cheap but memorable. We loved our cell room. Bar a little cramped and cocktails uninspired.

The only place to stay in Oxford.
Pros:

From the time you came down the drive, your experience started. The car was parked, the luggage was dealt with, check-in was professional. The room wax excellent. Jed in the bar and the staff in the restaurant are an asset to the company. The hotel was well located in Oxford. I could go on …

Cons:

Absolutely nothing

Quirky and historical amazing hotel
Pros:

We absolutely loved our stay at Malmaison Oxford. If you’re visiting Oxford and want somewhere that’s completely different from a typical hotel, this is it. The hotel is a beautifully converted Victorian prison, and they’ve managed to preserve so much of its history while creating surprisingly spacious, comfortable, and stylish rooms. It’s one of the most unique hotels we’ve ever stayed in.

The service really elevated the experience. Callum at reception gave us a genuinely warm welcome, was incredibly helpful with recommendations, and made us feel valued throughout our stay. It’s the kind of hospitality you remember.

We also highly recommend eating at Walk on the Wild Side. Alex, our bartender, made outstanding cocktails, and every dish we ordered was delicious. Kieran the food and beverage manager gave us great advice also. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and was a highlight of our visit.

The location is also excellent, just a short walk from Oxford’s main attractions while still feeling tucked away and peaceful.

From the unique history of the building to the exceptional staff, wonderful food, and comfortable rooms, this hotel exceeded our expectations. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable stay in Oxford.

It would have been a better experience if we had visited when there was no heat wave.
Pros:

The location was convenient for bus travel around Oxford and it was close to a mall. The staff was very friendly. Shower worked great I liked the downstairs lobby and the breakfast was excellent.

Cons:

It was advertised as having AC but it really only had a very ineffective tower AC and windows only opened a tiny bit. We were on the 5th floor so the heat was oppressive. The hallways were a little cooler.

Great location, nice rooms
Pros:

Clean rooms and great location

Cons:

- Bar close by very loud
- I think the staff could have been more helpful - for example when asking a front desk staff member about tours it was suggested to me that I should go on the internet. Surprising for a 4 star hotel

Expensive novelty but good location.
Pros:

Excellent location. The prison stuff is a novelty but it soon wears off. Rooms are indeed like cells!

Cons:

Too hot. Poor AC. Expensive for what it was. A novelty premier inn really.
