Cleanliness
8.5
Multiple reviews praise clean premises, bedsheets and bathrooms; described as 'Clean and spacious'.
Service
8
Reception described as cordial with easy check-in and checkout; overall service comments are positive.
Location
7.5
Location noted as a pro in one review, but an 'exit road' complaint and rooms being distant from reception temper the score.
Room Quality
6
Rooms described as clean and comfortable but issues include distance from reception, no lifts, tired public areas and some refurbishment work.
Amenities
5.5
Spa/pool and health suite are positives (included in price) but several comments cite facilities closed due to building work, a broken TV and ongoing refurbishment.
Value for Money
7.5
Described as 'did the job considering the cost' — generally acceptable value given the price and offerings.
Food and Beverage
6
Breakfast specifically called 'underwhelming' — food/B&B offerings appear below expectations.
Overall Experience
7
Mixed impressions: several 'pleasant' or 'lovely' stays and good spa access, offset by building works and some closed facilities — overall an adequate experience.

Not the standard you pay for
Pros:

Booked the usual superior King Size room I usually book once a month for work, checking in, room has been taken, was given a standard double room, if I wanted a view of a roof 5 yards from my window I would of booked that, gutter broken leading to constant dripping all night, noice from people working past, that’s why I book the superior king size, one of three rooms that your not disturbed, I have paid for the superior room & didn’t get that, but was told the duty manager would be phoning me later that day after check out, still waiting, checked out 10 days ago! Don’t stop in room 363 if raining outside.

If it hadn’t been for the friendly staff I would be asking for a refund
Cons:

We were very disappointed with our stay :- our bedrooms were to hot and the radiators wouldn’t turn down so we had to use fans in one room three fans
The plugs didn’t fit in the holes so couldn’t have baths there was only two plug sockets in each room
One bath had to be cleaned out as there was pubic hair in it
The door keys on one room kept running which was a problem having to go back to reception
And we were going to be charged five pounds a head for swimming with 12 in our family it would have worked out very expensive after a little moan it was agreed to not pay as I had paid in full before the hotel had changed hands
I have stayed there twice before and I was very disappointed with the extreme difference.

Avoid
Pros:

The mattress was comfy

Cons:

The building is lovely from the outside but when you get to the rooms a totally different story,it needs a total revamp in decorating dirty carpets ,dust, window latches that don't work light bulbs that don't work, holes in hallway carpet cracked tiles in bathroom,we would not stay here again we checked out after our first night and that's only because we got there quite late otherwise we would not have stayed there, very disappointing and can't believe we paid what we did to stay there so overpriced.

Adequate
Pros:

the room was clean and comfortable with every thing but a fridge

Cons:

as a dog owner needing a room we were located at the very rear of the hotel at the end of a long corridor which felt like we were underground it a small window with no view and little natural light It was a long way to take the dog for tiddles especially in the night
No fridge

Comfortable stay and convenient for car users.
Pros:

For the price it was adequate but for the style of business one would hope for table clothe, more extravagant plates, cutlery and pleasanter presentation of cereals.

Cons:

No lifts and too many ups and down stairways - we are old and feel thos, but know nothing can be done as it is a Listed Building.
