Location , Restaurant and Bar
Best hotel in Lourdes well worth the money
The location is good for visiting the grotto and surrounds,
I have never stayed in a hotel where i have been served such bad food. I travelled with my elderly mother to celebrate a big upcoming birthday , she had stayed many times over the years in the Solitude, I upgraded her on my arrival to include dinner as well. The food available was horrendous, an example was the porridge at breafast, when I put the ladle in it was just milk, the staff were rude and unhelpful in the dining area with the exception of one lady, no menu displayed when coming out of the lifts, overboiled fish for dinner etc. I would also like to say breakfast was served at 7;30 and dinner at 7pm , we went at the starting times so it wasn't that we were late and the food was sitting there. The day we were leaving i checked under the beds to see had we dropped anything and was met with a heavy sheet of dust under the beds!! Clearly they hadn't been cleaned under for some time.I will never stay in this hotel again nor will my mother ever return again. And I certainly would not recommend to eat there.
La colazione era ottima con personale qualificato
The staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful. Loved how central it was .
I have no dislikes about it .
Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The location is close to the Sanctuary of Lourdes. The reception area and bar area are spacious. The breakfast was good and the staff in this area were friendly and helpful.
The bar staff were not friendly at all. They were also very unhygienic, we order ice cream and although using a scoop they also grabbed it with their hands, one of the scoops of ice Cream fell on the counter, they just lifted it with their hand and put it back in the tub they were giving me. The corridors on the bedroom floors were dark and in need of improving, I don't think they have painted in years. Our triple bedroom was very small and while manageable the toilet facilities were very poor. The toilet was in a separate small room/cupboard so you had to reverse in if you wished to use the toilet and it was extremely difficult to close the door, when finished you had to go to another room to use the sink or the bidet, the shower was also in this room, the shower area had a light but it didn't work and the door of the shower hits the bidet when opened, the shower was also mouldy. The cleaning staff do come in daily to make the beds but don't brush the floor which would make more sense given the amount of flies which get in to the room if the balcony door overlooking the river is open. The beds in the room were OK for a short stay but the mattress is very thing so wouldn't do your back any good if you were staying for more than a few days. The room also had AC to cool or heat the room but it didn't work and being beside the river can be cold in the evenings The room was ok but not the standard of a 4 star hotel and certainly not what we seen in the pictures. The swimming pool in the hotel is also very small, it is suitable for getting into but to swim in it would be difficult.
