We stayed at The Harlow Hotel by Accor on the night of Monday 25th May. Despite the mixed reviews we chose this hotel because it's dog friendly and it was the most convenient hotel for us to attend the Potter Street Summer Fete.
We were allocated and excellent dog friendly room that had been modernised and offered every comfort we needed, including air conditioning which was very welcome given the UK was enjoying its mini heatwave when we stayed.
I would like to compliment all members of staff that we met. However I would like to single out three in particular:
#1 Dana, who I had spoken to on the phone prior to booking to discuss our need for a dog friendly room. Dana was also very helpful when we left the car prior to check in so that we could go to the Fete.
#2 Malika, who was very friendly and helpful, and persuaded the Chef to provide dinner although we arrived in the bar close to the time for last orders. Malika was very friendly and gave the impression that nothing flustered her or was too much trouble for guests.
#3 Keely the Chef. Although we didn't meet Keely we must say a big thanks and compliment her for agreeing to provide dinner. Malika told us the Keely had been on duty all day, and as it was Bank Holiday Monday they had been busy earlier in the day. Keely was also on breakfast duty on the Tuesday and guests included a coach full of German tourists. So we could have understood if Keely had said we were too late. We're glad she didn't as she produced a very tasty dinner.
I'm not going to say which room we had, because I want to have the best chance to be able to reserve that room the next time we go to Harlow and stay at The Harlow Hotel by Accor. Accor aren't investing enough to update the hotel, but they know how to pick brilliant people, as we experienced when engaging with Dana, Malika & Keely.

Dark paint / decour
Dirty / ripped carpet
Location next to the road, room smelt of stale smoke, not clean, mattresses were lumpy.
Clean, attentive staff, breakfast.
Paying for parking.
They allowed dogs and good breakfast.
Room was miles away from reception and it felt like I'd been sent to the worst part of the hotel cos I had a dog. It was quite basic and didn't feel or smell very fresh. I think it is also used for social housing.
Very kind staff very presentable and friendly, very clean and great valium for money I will visit soon again
