So quaint & very desirable
Room service was a little slow
Everything except bathroom size
Bedroom for up to six people (2 queen beds and a sofa sleeper) but a TINY bathroom and sink/counter. Everything else was excellent
We have done a lot of traveling & Mackinac Island was a new adventure. The Inn at Stonecliffe was everything we had hoped for: beautiful facility, beautiful grounds & first-class amenities & service. We truly went "back in time" to a slower pace but with the luxuries we enjoy!

How short my stay was (2 nights)
Beautiful grounds. The dining experience was really nice. Staff was exceptional. Garden tour was exceptional.
Rooms inside the mansion were beautiful.
Bathroom too small. It would have been better if the beds were separated. One bed in each room instead of having both beds in one room and a couch and chair in the other room.
We knew that The Inn had undergone a substantial renovation, but we never expected it to be as amazing as it was. It is stunning and the staff was as delightful as the facility. Great job!
Breakfast was good but a little to expensive (in dining room). I decided after trying restaurant one time for breakfast to go to the general store instead - which was good.
The inability to reserve a seat on the hourly horse shuttle. We almost did not get to take a shuttle (for luncheon reservation at the Grand) because there were too many people wanting to utilize the shuttle. Depended on the kindness of a family who was willing to make room by sitting children on their laps.
Great location and very nice accommodations. Emily at the front desk was very professional and helpful.
The dining room at The Straights was very disorganized.
We had an 8:30PM reservation and it was like they had no idea we were coming. The hostess walked us around and then asked us to go back out to the Lin y and wait while she “found us a table”- really? Spelling errors on the menu ?Primr” filet? The food was OK and the service “OK”.
The location is picturesque. It takes 40 minutes for the horse taxi to get to town which although quite inconvenient, it was actually quite peaceful. I think the Inn has a variety of activities in season so people can do things without going in town. All of those activities had not started up yet when we were there. We did get massages which were wonderful. We did eat at the Woods, which although not affiliated with the Inn, was so close it felt like it was. We stayed at the Summer House, the rooms were spacious, quiet, and very comfortable.
While the location is serene, it was so far from the main drag of town and took 40 minutes to reach by taxi. I wish I would have known that when I booked. Technically walkable but we never did the walk as it was cold and rainy when we were there. Also the taxi was advertised as a shuttle - it wasn't clear to me that this was not a free service of the Inn, we had to pay each time.
It was very elegant and well kept. The rooms were very nice and spacious and clean. I loved the outdoor activities for families.
The proximity to town was a little inconvenient, but it was also nice because you got to get away from the hustle and bustle. Both drivers for the Stonecliffe horse and buggy we had were not very friendly and one of them seemed very uneducated about how to drive the horses. I think the price is a bit steep.
I have stayed at grand Hotel at least 20 times, but the grounds at Stonecliff have become so gorgeous that we just had to give it a try. All of the dining options were amazing, although I do wish they had more vegetarian/vegan items, but it’s hard to argue with the staff and the amenities. Simply divine vacation!
The property and the room were wonderful. I loved that there were 2 pools - not that either were very busy during our stay, but it was nice to have an adults only pool. Would have been even better if there were a hot tub. Where things were less than ideal were at The Backyard Restaurant. We ate there both nights of our stay and they seemed to struggle with serving food in a timely manner. And to the correct tables - more than once during both nights food was brought to our table that wasn't ours. On our second evening we waited quite a long time for our food (pizza and garlic knots). They made it right in the end, but I would have preferred to have had my food much sooner.
This is our second stay here. It is located away from the busy part of Mackinac Island, but is well-situated to enjoy the trails and natural beauty of the island. We enjoyed the hammocks, lounge chairs, and lawn games. On site bike rental is convenient and the bikes are in new condition. The room was very comfortable and immaculately clean.
