Comfy stay in a good location
Pros:

The hotel itself seems to be excellent. It was beautiful and clean. Beds were comfy and there is a mini fridge inside of the room. I also enjoyed the breakfast. Everything was tasty.

Cons:

Unfortunately the AC was not working properly. Our room was really warm during the day. During the night we ended up leaving the windows open.

There is parking place in the hotel yard. It was a bit complicated to find the entrance gate. However, personell was very helpful.

Cons:

After checking in, we were assigned a standard room on the 7th floor with a sloped attic ceiling. The room also had a large boxed structure above the head of the bed, apparently housing building equipment or utilities. This room did not match the standard room photos shown on Booking, which only displayed regular-shaped rooms with normal ceilings.

After I raised my concern, the front desk kindly moved us to another standard room with a normal window, which I appreciated.

We are Asian travelers, and while I have no evidence that our room assignment was related to our ethnicity, the experience left us wondering how rooms are allocated. I understand that a “Standard Room” can include different layouts. However, I do not understand why, when the hotel was not fully occupied and during the hottest days of the year in Riga, we were initially assigned one of the least desirable standard rooms—the top-floor attic room with the most irregular layout and greatest heat exposure.

This experience made me question both the hotel’s room allocation policy and whether the room photos in the Booking listing accurately represent the full range of standard rooms that guests may receive.
