Grand Royale Hyde Park

We were extremely disappointed with our stay. This hotel advertises itself as a 4-star property, but in reality it does not even come close. At best, it deserves 2 stars, and even that is questionable.

From the moment we entered the room, the condition of the accommodation was shocking. There were moths in the room, and dead moths and spiders were visible on the window blinds. Our room overlooked a courtyard that was essentially a rubbish area, creating an unpleasant view and atmosphere. To make matters worse, the window could not be opened, meaning there was no access to fresh air.

The carpets were absolutely dreadful, heavily worn, stained, and unhygienic. It was obvious that there were even worse issues hidden underneath them. The entire room was covered in dust, making it difficult to breathe comfortably.

The walls and ceilings were dirty, damaged, and clearly neglected for a long time. The ventilation system was filthy, covered in dirt and dust to the point where I was genuinely afraid to turn it on.

The bathroom was extremely small and uncomfortable. There was mould present, the drain smelled terrible and appeared unhygienic, and the bathtub was old, worn out, and dirty. The overall condition of the bathroom was unacceptable.

We were also greeted by a stain on the bed linen upon arrival, which immediately raised concerns about cleanliness standards throughout the hotel.

Overall, the entire property felt outdated, poorly maintained, and unclean. The level of cleanliness and maintenance was far below what any guest should expect, especially from a hotel claiming to have 4-star standards. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we have had, and we would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The shower was difficult to operate and we had to get a member of staff to come to help and he struggled too. But once we got it working it was ok.

Room was small but not an issue

Room was small but adequate

Staff were slow to check in get bags ect, rooms very very small, beds uncomfortable, walls very thin could hear people coming up and down stairs constantly and struggled to sleep

Sadly, our room was extremely hot with no ventilation, and we had an invasion of Ants who seemed extremely agitated, which caused us to be bitten some even came home in our luggage with us. The situation was reported to reception sadly, no feedback

A single room is always tucked away somewhere, in this case on the attick, having to climb two stairs after going with the elevator to the top floor. Struggling with the shower, too hot at first, takes a while before you get a good mix of hot and cold.

My room smelled of drains which was really off putting. I don’t know if that was generally across the whole of the hotel or whether I was just unlucky.

The shower screen didn’t cover the bath, but also the shower wasn’t powerful. Despite this, the room had everything we needed.
