You haven't added any cots.
You haven't added any extra beds.
It’s very dated. Cobwebs visible around the windows. Dust on the shelves.
Simple check in
Good Breakfast.
Clean and well appointed room.
Windows looking tired and need replacing, but did not detract from a value for money stay.
Bit of a delay checking in, but once done directions were fine. Place is a warren and room was pretty tired and a long walk from reception. However, for £50 it was good value. Road was noisy - no double glazing - but bed was comfy enough. Left early and pleased to find a friendly reception staffed at 5am.
Room needs a refresh (117). There were scuff marks and writing on the walls. Hall carpet loose and tatty. All a bit run down, but as mentioned, prices reflect that. Fine for an overnight stay.
Parking
Some of the staff were very pleasant
Blood stains on pillow
Key card that kept not working
TV disconnected had to put together
Given an adjoining room with door locked between. Could hear everything from that room. Not private.
People running up and down corridors at 2.30am in the morning.
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
There was a restaurant offering food during the day and in the evening.
The menu and the meals we ordered were very good and tasty.
Room was clean and bed comfortable.
The hotel is tired and needs a refresh. And our welcome on arrival left a lot to be desired. We felt as if we were interrupting everyone's evening when we checked in at Reception in the bar. The desk person was quite unfriendly and impatient.
The carpet in the room corridors is well overdue replacement! It is worn in places and not only looks awful (who chose that pattern for a building of that era?!) but is verging on unsafe in places, in our opinion.
Our room was clean and comfortable but rather strangely furnished. We had two tables/desks but only one chair.
The toilet was placed awkwardly and askew. It made it difficult to use without banging elbows on the wall etc.
We suffered from a lack of sufficiently hot water for our showers on two occasions. Another guest told us about this on the day we arrived. This should never happen in a well-run establishment.
We found the staff very helpful but the general attitude is very relaxed, which is nice but there is a lack of professionalism. We often had to look for someone to answer questions/help, though everyone was lovely once found.
Despite hosting coach parties the kitchen seemed to find it hard to cope with hordes of people descending on the dining room for breakfast. Not sure if this was understaffing or lack of training/ organisation.
There were regularly shortages of some of the food items at breakfast due to supply being unable to keep up with demand. And the eggs when they turned up weren't properly cooked.
We would have liked a choice of fried and scrambled eggs. Many other hostelries offer 2 egg options.
The poster about the Mercure owners portrayed a vision for their hotels that we have not experienced in this hotel or the other two we stayed at in Brussels and Lübeck recently. We were surprised to see the chain was not owned by venture capitalists or similar, where standards and what's offered vary but have fallen much to the customer's disappointment. It's a shame.
Plenty of hot water.
Location was good for us.
Externally pleasing.
Reception staff not friendly,
Room / bathroom dated and bathroom floor not cleaned.
Pillows lumpy
Friendly and helpfull staff, nice room. “Excellent value for money. Thank you
Price. Comfortable bed. Nice coffee machine
Dark and dreary in need of refurbishment.
Attitude of reception staff when I reported that the rom key card bid not work
Breakfast cold hard bacon congealed fried eggs.
Upgraded room. I saw the other side of the hotel. It was much nicer. It seems to be a hotel of two parts. I have only ever had a room that was off long corridors and up little stair ways and out on a limb away from the main hotel which put me off staying. The upgrade was lovely and it was in the main hotel. I felt less vulnerable.
Quite a long check in even though I had checked in on line.
My 6th stay at Bankfield. I think for the money it's amazing. Good parking (as long as you enter your registration number at reception); rooms are a bit tired but clean and there's plenty of room. The staff are friendly and really helpful. Very few complaints for what you're paying.
Wifi could be better, and the shower heads have little movement to get a decent shower, but the pressure and temperature are OK. Food's a little pricey.
Nothing
It was dirty, dated, there were insects in my bathroom, and there was hair on the floor/bed. I immediately checked out of the hotel after I checked in (stayed only 15 minutes in the room and had to leave).
Beautiful grounds Free parking and lovely staff
Not much
Easy check in and quiet
Room was a bit dated
Lovely building and grounds and in a good location
The grounds were very well kept, the setting is relaxed and quiet. The room and bathroom were very spacious.
Parking was very good. Bedroom was excellent with a great large bed.
The hotel entrance is tatty, grubby and has very worn dirty carpets.
Not a good welcome.
Our bathroom was very dirty along the bottom of the wall.
Specs of black bits came from the cold wash basin tap.
The restaurant staff were not very professional.
not a lot
very low water pressure.
no heating on.
given a room that was not the one i paid for.
( a double room is not a family room)
a television with no signal.
not cleaned on a daily basis.
all the things advertised did not happen.
on reporting this nothing was done.
i advise to stay clear.
