Bon emplacement. Vue magnifique depuis la chambre.tres belle chambre, belle deco, très propre. Tres belle vue depuis la terrasse pour le petit déjeuner.
Le séjour est contraignant : l’utilisation d’une navette est indispensable depuis le parking surtout si on a des bagages : il faut donc appeler pour indiquer à quelle heure précise on arrive (la reception ne répond pas systématiquement il faut réitérer), puis il faut réserver le créneau horaire pour le retour (on nous a indiqué à notre arrivée que les créneaux du lendemain étaient déjà complets entre 9h30 et 11h30, sachant qu’il ne s’agit pas d’un transport privé)… idem pour le petit déjeuner : à réserver sur des créneaux d’une demie heure… le dîner au restaurant est un peu incompréhensible : tarif minimum appliqué de 100 euros par personne (250 euros pour être bien placé) alors que les plats sont annoncés à 25 €.

Everything was amazing
No AC, so the ventilation system keeps the rooms at the mid 70’s F, we all slept on top of the blankets, all night. But still a very nice hotel we would stay again just not in august

We had a wonderful stay at this property during our recent trip to Matera. The accommodations were absolutely lovely — our room was spotless and beautifully chic, with thoughtful design touches that made it feel both stylish and comfortable.
The breakfast spread each morning was a real highlight — a delicious array of options that set us up perfectly for a day of exploring the Sassi. And the staff went above and beyond throughout our stay, warm, attentive, and genuinely excellent from check-in to check-out.
Highly recommend for anyone visiting Matera — we’d stay again in a heartbeat.

I haven’t even stayed here and im having trouble coordinating with them! Its a 5 star apparently, but they claim no one can get there by car now, I asked if there’s porter service there’s no response exactly how wonder am I going to come to this hotel and my lugging my luggage, their communication is horrible!

It was our first time in Matera, I would advise more than one night to find your feet. Hotel Sant’Angelo was in the perfect location within walking distance to local sites, restaurants, shops & bars. Beautifully placed the rooms are built into the caves so they are dotted around and not in a building as such so really different and unique. We had 2 rooms and both were fabulous with beautiful views. Anyone who may have mobility issues I would recommend ground or lower floors and also same applies for small kids! All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming especially, Martina, Flavia, Nicole & Umberto. Parking is nearby at a small cost and there is a hotel shuttle which is very comfortable and efficient which will collect you from your car with your bags, it is suggested to just bring a small bag but if not concierge will help you. All in all we really enjoyed Matera & our stay at Sant’Angela. Thank you again! 😎

We had the loveliest stay at Sant'angelo. The staff were so responsive, kind and helpful from the very beginning. The service was really exceptional. The rooms and property are very special here, each room is unique and different from each other. It's a very special place. A/C worked well during the recent heat wave and the stay was very comfortable. We were only here one night but I would have loved to stay two and enjoy the property/rooms even more and explore Matera more.

Such a nonpareil experience being in the beautiful historic Sassi of Matera. Love how SantAngelo thoughtfully respects the architecture, each room elegant whilst aligned with nature. It was a treat to stay in a real cave luxuriously, the rooms kitted out with Ortigia products that smell divine; to walk out into open spaces where one can sit at night and watch the many cats hang out by the old city walls.
SantAngelo's breakfast at RegiaCorte is stunning too, I particularly loved the pastries and the selection of cheeses; the dinner service as the sun set was magical, with dishes that elevate the local cuisine. I also loved the pizza at PiuSud, stunningly charred and a flavour experience in one's mouth.
The property is located very conveniently within the lower piazza zone, with plenty of food and sights literally at one's doorstep-- Rupestrian churches, views of the Gravina caves, and gelato. SantAngelo's wonderful warm team also arranged everything thoughtfully-- from porters to carry luggage up the sassi steps, a history of the place, to the ApeCalessino tour. Graziemille per tutti!
