At this place I felt I had travelled back in time to a luxury hotel in 1960.
The decor and bathroom fittings were of the period as was the cutlery in the restaurant.
Our bedroom still had some round pin plugs in addition to modern square pins.
Everywhere was clean and bright.
The staff ( especially the Greek lady in the restaurant) were friendly a d helpful.

The staff were very friendly and helpful
Everywhere was very dated.
All the carpets and a fair amount of the upholstery was stained.
The doors in the lift were smeared with goodness knows what.
Room was large and comfortable and the parking on site, although charged for, was very reasonable for 24 hours.
Whilst the room had everything I needed for a short overnight business stay, it felt a little tired and in need of updating.
It is a very pleasant hotel with lots of character.
The bathroom in suite Highgrove 2 (room 110) would have been considered luxurious when refurbished some years ago. However, it was showing signs of age. The basin mixer tap was fixed to a vanity unit top and due to water damage the tap flexed to such an extent that one expected a water disaster to occur every time it was used. In addition the kettle had to go at an extreme angle under it to be filled up. The extract fan was extremely noisy and ran almost continuously necessitating the high level switch to be used overnight to isolate it.
I liked the room. Clean & Tidy. The parking price very reasonable.
I did not like that dog owners do not keep their dogs close with them. Reception staff could greet guests more welcoming

Not much
Brilliant breakfast. Top quality ingredients, all cooked well, plenty of choice, and great portion size. Really nice to be able to take our dogs in to breakfast, when it’s quiet.
Nothing I disliked
bed linen was clean
given a disability room, hardly romantic, smelt of tcp and was unclean, brown staining to the disabled parts, handles broken on main door, drain broken, room smelt unpleasant, windows old and unclean, no dressing table, poor lighting, stained carpets.
felt charging for parking was poor, should be included inthe hotels own car park.
greeting at the hotel was lack lustre.
on arrival at 8.30 told we had 15 minutes to get dinner before the kitchen shut at 8.45. service generally poor/ not of an expected standard.
in room said to call for fresh milk for tea tray, was told i had to go to the bar and get it myself, was ready for bed so had to persuade them to bring it up. 1 biscuit for 2 people.
all these things add up to quite an unpleasant stay.
