The room was great, brilliant parking and EV chargers on site. Wide range of areas to sit with food and drinks from the bar including an outdoor terrace.
Bar staff seemed quite stern, bordering in grumpy at times.
Food was ok, expected better for the price charged
Spa closes quite early compared to others
Great facility with free parking, bar and restaurant on site. Comfortable room with everything we needed. Quiet location on the edge of the city suited our needs.
Breakfast was fine
Coffee not so great, better quality coffee / machines needed
Fantastic, clean, very comfortable room. Excellent clean and bright pool and sauna. Good fairly priced bar. Excellent location near the motorway.
Nothing really. We did not have breakfast but the choice was good.
Enjoyed the swim
It was all good.
Position.staff spa quiet. Airconditioning
Spa too busy with children and club members. Was usually busy until 6
The pool is nice and there is plenty of parking. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spacious.
Upon arrival, they take a holding amount from your payment card of £50. We weren't made aware of this prior to our stay, and we were just told to do this at reception rather than asked. We were informed that it was mandatory, even though booking.com said that there was nothing else to pay at the property. I understand the reasoning - they deduct any extras from this such as the mini bar - but it's not really the right way of going about things. You should produce an invoice and get people to pay on checkout. Otherwise you're relying on the hotel to release that £50 on your card once you've left, and it means you have to chase them up if this doesn't happen. Pre warning of this would be much more helpful than just being told to present your card at the property.
We booked a king room and when we went to the room found that it was a twin. Reception saw that we had booked a king room and advised that they could move us but that it was an upgrade, although we wouldn't need to pay any extra. It was an odd statement, made even more odd by the fact that the room was essentially exactly the same. The only difference was that it had a coffee machine and two robes. There was no hand moisturiser in the king room like there was in the twin, and no complimentary bottled water, so I guess the upgrade requires some sacrifices. The shower was pretty poor and temperature fluctuated, and the bathroom tap leaked from places it shouldn't.
We've stayed here twice now, more for convenience of location than anything else, and each time there has been something in the leisure facilities not working. Last time the steam room was out of order, and a gym member told us that it had been out of action for a few weeks, and this time the two panic alarms in the steam room and sauna weren't working. As the pool area isn't manned, I would deem this to be critical to get fixed - safety is a priority.
The family suite was spacious and great that we got complimentary use of the mini bar. It was a good room for a family (2 adults + 2 kids) as we had seperate but interconnecting rooms.
The wait for food at dinner was appalling. We waited over an hour from ordering for our food. When the food arrived it was dissapointing to say the least. The waitress was very apologetic and explained that they were having trouble in the kitchen - but when you've got 2 hungry kids, waiting over an hour after you've ordered for a pizza and a burger is pretty dire - it would have been somewhat mitigated had the food been amazing, but the the kids food was terrible and the adults food not much better. The waitress was very good however and comped the entire meal as it was so bad. I think quite a few other diners got the same treatment and result as we could hear lots of other tables complaining. It was a shame really, as the rest of the stay was actually quite nice.
Good
No comfy sofas to relax food overpriced not very good standard shower in bath no good for people with back problems as us old birds need a walk in shower had to wash at sink every day in that stifling hot weather
Comfy bed
When we got to the room the bath was full of somebody’s hair + the bin was not emptied - it was cleaned by the staff after my intervention. They close the pool at 8 pm - the pool and the possibility of refreshment after a long hot day was the only reason I have chosen this hotel and yet we could not use it - it seems like this odd hour was set for people not to be able to use the pool.
The rooms were cosy and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay at Cheltenham as we discovered the towns nearby. Further, we enjoyed the vintage cars as there was motor show planned this weekend.
There were staircase on the say to rooms in the lobby which was annoying as we had to carry our whole suitcases down the staircase. I even heard another couple complaining about the same. When you are vacation, you don’t feel like carrying luggage around the hotels.
