Staff were very friendly, virtually everyone said hello and asked how we were. The food in the restaurant/bar was amazing. On the first night the chef came out to speak to us personally as he wanted to say hello because we shared the same surname.
Doing any proper swimming in the pool was difficult as half the pool seemed to be always taken up with a swimming lesson and the other half had a lot of young kids messing about
The location and beautiful hotel building. Friendly, helpful and welcoming staff
Room was a bit dated, for the price, sink drain were black from scratched metal, brown stained and bed had a decent sized dip on the right side, which I didn't expect for a hotel room that price
Not much. In a good area of wales
The rooms and facilities all felt very dated. The pool and ‘spa’ area felt like an afterthought and not well kept
Lovely location. We had breakfast at the bar and the food was good.
Our bathroom wasn’t clean properly and the general standard of cleanliness and attention to detail isn’t what I’d expect from a deluxe room in a chain such as Marriott
Very friendly and helpful staff who did everything possible to make our stay as comfortable as enjoyable as possible.
In general the quality of the food was good but there were one or two items we ordered that were not up to standard.
Room had a lovely view of golf course
Other room was a bad view and more noisy
Room was very clean and spacious.
The pillows were too soft.
Location.
Pictures show a stately home but we ended up in rooms in 2 semi detached houses so quite misleading
Location to Chepstow race course
Checking in took 40 minutes. It Was chaotic after checking with them several times. Book 2 nights for dinner for 10 people and neither night had been booked after calling them twice to confirm. Chef demanded we preorder for the second night. A lot of new staff who didn’t know what they were really doing.
Everything
Bathroom Taps in room were loose.
Every single staff member that we dealt with from reception, bar staff, housekeeping, groundsman, leisure were all very helpful, polite and a credit to the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble.
The room was without a doubt one of the cleanest we have stayed in of a period property which are usually a bit dusty! Lovely big room overlooking the duck pond was idyllic and very quiet.
Its a golfing resort so if you dont want to sit in a bar with a load of golfing banter, over loud people who dont believe in waiting to be served then this is not the place for you. However most were day members and not so bad in the evening.
The property was lovely and stunning
Nothing
