Motel 6 Fort Bragg, CA

The price I paid on a holiday weekend was about 4X what the property was worth. The parking lot was unattractive, with lots of sad weeds sprouting in various beds. Room interior was rather bare, with a bed that didn’t even cover the box spring. The plank flooring seemed to be the only upgrade in years, with worn paint on the baseboards and walls.

The room initially looked clean. It’s an old motel that’s had a face lift, paint mostly. Floors were dirty and sticky, the smoke detector was missing from its base, fixtures were rusty, mold on the bathroom ceiling, overall, the staff was friendly, but the property was GARBAGE.

However, the room smelled musty and odd. There were dog footprints on the comforter. The room was tidy, but dirty. There was mold/pink grime in the sink and shower drain, in the tub, and on the shower head. The floors felt dirty as well. The fridge didn't keep things very cold.

A non smoking room smelled badly of long term smoke
We weren't switched rooms. Staff didn't come visit the room. Just sent my husband with a bottle of toxic spray to rid the smoke smell. It didn't help at all. We couldn't run the heat/ac because the filter was contaminated with smoke and increased a fresh wave of stench when used. Windows have no screens so can't leave windows open to the parking lot.
The doors were stuck in their jams and had to be yanked in and out of position.
The room came with a dirty washcloth under the sink.

Booked a non smoking room, the room that we were in said it was non smoking but it had CLEARLY been smoked in. the smell was very bothersome and made it very hard to be in the room. the lock on the window was very loose and could EASILY be knocked off

Unfortunately, the bathroom was not as clean as expected, and the sink was clogged. I noticed the issue late at night while brushing my teeth and, given the late hour, chose not to disturb the front desk. I reported the problem to the staff the following morning. I understand that reporting it immediately may have allowed the issue to be addressed sooner; however, I did not discover the problem until late at night.

I noted a smell of mildew when first walking in the room. I miss the restaurant that was out front and I hope that they will open again.

There was no shower curtain in one room and when we asked they didn’t even know where to locate them. the fridge had left a large wet spot on the floor that housekeeping was supposed to come clean but never showed up.

Grounds were trashy and dirty.
