Pros:

Not very much

Cons:

The hotel is very old and poorly maintained. There is a lot of litter and disused items at the rear of the property. There are many stairs and torturous routes to the bedrooms. The staff are unfriendly. The breakfast is of poor quality.

Reasonable place to explore Thurso
Pros:

Great and very helpful staff at the reception and the bar...centrally located, fully equipped rooms talking bout a royal grandeur of past times...

Cons:

Breakfast staff was way more concerned with the Bus-Tour-groups than us solo-travelling family.

Disappointed with the distance to the bedrooms which exhausted us as there was no offer of help with luggage. And as for

We had to take our luggage a long way to our rooms. Up stairs, down stairs along corridors with stairs again. As the 4 of us are elderly there was no help of a porter etc. The bathrooms were old, no walk in showers only showers in the bath which is a hazard for elderly people. We had drinks in the hotel and there was NO ICE. A bar with no ice!! The breakfast was good and service was good. I’m afraid we won’t be staying there again because of the long and exhausting trail to the bedrooms.

Pros:

The central location was perfect. Staff were friendly and polite both at the reception and during breakfast at the restaurant. Breakfast was tasty, I've asked for a vegetarian version and they did have veggie sausages for full English. I don't understand why this hotel has a low rating. I guess don't expect a 4-5 star hotel. Some furniture/ equipment is old but it's good value for money and great location.

We received a warm welcome from the member of staff at reception!

Cons:

We were not expecting luxury as we had read previous reviews. However this hotel needs knocking down! Our room was way past updating and the bathroom suit was probably from the 60s and looked it. The windows were falling to bits! I honestly think it’s the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. At breakfast one of the waitresses had a hissy fit as we had taken the dogs in to the restaurant (where we had been instructed to go to the night before)! All in all not somewhere I would go again and certainly wouldn’t recommend it!

A great stop on the NC500
Pros:

Was concerned after reading some negative reviews but we had a great stay, the room was a good size and very clean. The bathroom was very large and again clean. The room is simple but well equipped, and has nice period features. The breakfast was surprisingly good despite negative reviews. It was hot and cooked-to-order, with good continental options too. Staff were very polite and responsive, although there was a short wait when we arrived as there was no one on reception. The location was great and we were able to park at the hotel too! A great stop for one night on the NC500.

Cons:

There was no one on reception when we arrived and no way to contact them, we rang the phone but no one answered. Once someone arrived they were very helpful.

Könnyen megközelíthető, jó helyen volt a szálloda. Az épület mögött parkolási lehetőség is volt.

Cons:

A padlók mindenhol nyikorogtak, a szoba falak eléggé vékonyak voltak, minden hallatszott.A reggeli eléggé szegényes volt. Egyik nap még volt gyümölcs, másnap már nem. Se egy kávéautomata, csak előre lefőzött híg kávé. Három csillagos szállodához ez gyenge felhozatal volt.
