Its at the very heart of the town and close to the shops.
The Wi-Fi was not great. Our room was at the top and at the end of the building. We had to go through so many corridors and not very convenient with the luggage. The staff were nice and helpful when I asked for a change towels and a toilet roll.

Property is getting a little dated when compared to 12 years ago - no real change perceived over that time.

For a supposedly dog friendly hotel the dog wasn't allowed many places. And got hit with a £20 charge even though I'd booked travelling with a dog at the time.

The price was reasonable. The staff were pleasant. The food we had fish and chips bar meal and breakfast were good. The room number 5 was not as advertised by booking .com 193ft square with city view. It was more like 80ft square with no window only two bird dropping covered glass panels in the ceiling. The room was ridiculously warm. Also no spoons provided for coffee only wooden stirrers.
We were a bit worried before our stay because of the many negative reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was clean and overall in decent condition.
Unfortunately, there were a few things that significantly affected our experience. The tea cups in the room were heavily stained. Years of coffee and tea residue had clearly become permanent, and they should have been replaced long ago. This is not the kind of tableware that should be provided to guests.
The same issue continued at breakfast. Our table was dirty when we arrived, and the cups, plates, and cutlery were all very worn. Once again, the cups had permanent stains that could no longer be cleaned off. At some point, tableware simply needs to be replaced. It looks unhygienic and leaves a poor impression. In addition, several of the chairs in the breakfast area were badly damaged and should have been repaired or replaced.
The breakfast itself was also disappointing. The buffet consisted of little more than juice, cereal, and cold milk. We decided to have breakfast at the café across the street instead.
