Lovely location and very friendly staff, but dinner not always available.
Pros:

Very nice continental breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful.
I paid for a seaview (room 20) and had a nice room with a view over the lawns to the shore. The room was slightly old fashioned but comfortable and I was perfectly happy with it.

Cons:

No cooked breakfast on offer. No dinner available in hotel, but receptionist happy to make a booking at a Helensburgh restaurant of our choice.

Pros:

Location of hotel, staff were very helpful.

Cons:

Misleading advert for restaurant and pictures of food on booking.com site, received message on arrival day that restaurant was closed due to unforseen circs, meaning I couldnt cancel without losing £136, which is expensive given state of room and a cold continental breakfast Had I read trip advisor would have seen restaurant had been closed for some time and I would have booked elsewhere. Nearest hot food was a 20


min walk away. Suggest they change wording to breakfast buffet and remove restaurant.

Lovely hotel in its own grounds located in Rhu with lovely friendly staff. breakfast was a basic continental but that was fine for our needs.

Great staff, but not the room
Pros:

Very helpful ladies at the desk and at the breakfast who made the stay so much nicer. 24h desk, convenient. Liked the breakfast, good selection for us, even though no hot food. Room had water view, which is nice, pretty quiet, except for a church tower nearby that gave out a little jingle every 15 minutes - but not too bad. Didn't like the room itself at all - very hot on a pretty cool overcast day, windows open very little, no fan, stuffy inside, toilet didn't work, card keys didn't work. Very dated. No lift. The building showed general neglect. The whole area/town is kind of run down, honestly. I'd use as the last resort only.

Posizione comoda e isolata

Cons:

La stanza si trovava sopra ad un locale con macchinari che creavano un assordante rumore e vibrazione del pavimento che non permetteva assolutamente di poter alloggiare e tantomeno dormire in quella stanza. In oltre quando siamo arrivati la stanza era priva di asciugamani . Abbiamo dovuto contattare la reception per farceli avere e poi farci cambiare stanza. Ci è stata proposta una stanza in fondo al corridoio dove il rumore si sentiva di meno ma è stato comunque molto difficile dormire. Assolutamente grave. La colazione era scarna (non erano presenti nemmeno le classiche uova strapazzate o bacon). Il personale è stato comunque disponibile nel risolvere i problemi.

Made very welcome and had lovely staff , think the lady at the receptions name was alison , really lovely woman and very helpful including advice on local stuff to experience

Have been coming here for years and always got a cooked breakfast that was always something to look forward to in the morning only to be told its a Continental breakfast now as have no cooks , we where lucky enough to have a cooked breakfast in the morning because there was a function on the night we stayed and there was hot food on for that , but really disappointed to hear that no hot food or breakfasts would be served again if we did decide to go back , after so many years this is disappointing

Room was not of a good standard. Carpet was heavily stained, curtains were stained, bedroom furniture was worn and broken. The bathroom was in a poor state of repair.
