Absolutely fabulous, one of the best hotels we have stayed in.
Over the road from restaurants
Bus stop just outside no 1 or 2 20 minutes into Funchal
Just a little let down ,you have to pay for your room safe
And there is charge to change your pool town
Definitely come again
Just finished a week in the Baia Azul with my family. It was a fantastic stay from start to finish. The hotel is kept to a very high standard and the staff equally as impressive.
Special shout out to Marisa on reception who was very friendly and helpful during our stay. Would love to come back!
Fantastic hotel in a stunning location. Rooms were clean and comfortable, lots of areas to relax throughout the hotel. Lovely outdoor pool with lots of sun beds available throughout the day. Food was excellent with plenty of choice available. Staff were consistently polite and helpful, but must call out Gregório Ramos who was a superstar in the restaurant…such a delightful young man! Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
Location is fantastic. Five minute work to shops, restaurants and activities for the family.
Fantastic atmosphere. Evening entertainment is brilliant. Great to sit out each evening and to experience the music and dancing. We had no issues with noise levels at all.
Rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, clean and a stunning view. Value for money. Service is excellent. Staff cannot do enough for you.
Reception staff are so friendly and knowledgeable.
Food was fantastic every day. Fresh fruit and vegetables and so many gorgeous dishes to try. Compliments to the chefs.
The waiting staff never stop. One staff member who stands out is Gregorio. Always friendly, welcoming and checking if we’re ok, extremely helpful and he just never stopped working and smiling.
Excellent service and we will definitely be back!
I've been very fortunate to have travelled extensively and stayed in many hotels. The Bahia Azul fully deserves my 4.5☆ rating for its facilities, staff, and location. I did not stay in a Seaview room, which would have been nice, but I can't complain about my room that had all the creature comforts (apart from a supply of coffee). I was B&B, so I can't comment on evening meals, but breakfast was good with a full range of hot & cold foods.
Adoramos tudo na estadia! Desde da receção com um miminho, do quarto muito espaçoso e confortável e uma vista incrível, do pequeno almoço diversificado e saboroso, até às piscinas e áreas de spa perfeitas para relaxar um bocadinho. Excedeu as nossas expectativas.
Spacious, clean and well maintained hotel just on the outskirts of Funchal. But don’t worry there is a complimentary coach service to the city centre or local transport. We enjoyed the pool area and none of this business of early morning towels being put on the sun beds - there was plenty of room for every one to enjoy. Look out for the secret entrance that takes you to the promenade. The rooms are all the same just what you prefer sea view or view of the main road which is marketed as Mountain View. Down side was the Evening entertainment usual out on the sun deck so no avoiding them and they were loud. Only good point was the traditional Madeira folk music dressed in traditional costume that came on during the intermission and then back to the dreary entertainment. The breakfast was on the lower floor with plenty of seating. As vegetarians the buffet was limited. Overall we were disappointed and felt it was over priced for what it was though we booked through Jet2 who weren’t interested in our feedback to them.
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Madeira staying at the Baia Azul hotel in Funchal. The hotel is in a beautiful location with stunning seaviews (although do book a high level sea view room for the best view). There are two lovely pools (indoor and outdoor) and plenty of nice spaces to be. There is entertainment every evening and if you want to go out to eat or drink there are bars and cafes close by.
All the staff are friendly and helpful and work so hard to make sure guests have a great time.
However a really big thank you goes to Mario, Cesar and the waiters and chefs for accomodating my dairy free diet. They made sure that there was always something lovely for me to eat. When you have allergies/intolerances it is often hard to eat away from home. The kindness of everyone at this hotel will not be forgotten.
Fantastic place to stay if visiting Madeira. Had to drive to most places but parking on site was relatively cheap and the hotel itself was awesome.
I have zero complaints, fantastic location.
This is a great hotel in a good location just outside of Funchal. We had a balcony room with a truly fabulous sea-view; ask for a room on the higher floors to really appreciate it.
The hotel itself is clean and spacious with a good bar and reception area. It was November when we visited so didn't go to the pool but in summer it should be fine for sunbathing. As for location, walking into Funchal is easy and if you fancy a longer walk you can get to Camara de Lobos where there are some excellent restaurants.
We felt the buffet was a little limited and lacked variety although there was plenty of food so you won't go hungry. The drinks service was very good and we enjoyed the cocktail selection. Entertainment was a bit dreary - why do hotels assume everyone over 60 wants to listen to old crooners? - although we were treated to a very good Madeiran singing/dancing troupe.
Overall we had a very good holiday at the Baia Azul and would definitely recommend it as a base to explore the area.
The room was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful.
The only issue was the body cream provided in the room. It caused a severe skin reaction, and my skin became very red. Guests with sensitive skin may experience similar problems, so I think it would be better to offer a hypoallergenic option.
