Disengaged and non-trustworthy staff

Nice property.

Cons:

Our car was damaged in their parking lot of the hotel. When I reported the incident at the reception desk, I was told the manager could access the video surveillance as soon as she came in the next morning. By 10am I spoke to her and she assured she would get to it right away. By checkout time, I saw her close the door to her office as I approached and was told she would report back to me that same afternoon by phone or email. Sure enough, she did neither. Probably an employee or supplier was to blame and she preferred to protect her own. For the price I paid, I would have expected they would at lest keep their word and report back. The stay was already quite expensive but with this damage, it cost me several thousand dollars.

Romantic luxury in the heart of the wine country with prime river views
Pros:

It is the ultimate luxurious wine-country escape. The facilities are well-equipped. The setting is serene and romantic, with prime views of the river Douro. If my schedule and budget allowed I’d have stayed an extra night to fully enjoy and explore the courtyard, the bar, and swimming pool. Great stay to explore the wine country. Dinner at the restaurant on site was magical, and breakfast was the best

The huge labyrinthine site of the hotel means it can be quite a hike to walk from your room to anywhere else
