Great value and central location
Pros:

Knowing it was a Britannia hotel and having experienced them before, I wasn’t expecting too high a standard. I was, however, pleasantly surprised. The receptionist was very friendly and efficient. The room was large, clean and quiet with a bathroom complete with bath which is always a plus for me. It’s a very large hotel in a very central location close to everything including the train station. There are 2 large bars downstairs, one fairly quiet and one playing music. I didn’t eat breakfast so can’t comment on that. At £52 a night for a double room, bank holiday weekend it represented excellent value for money. I’d happily stay here again.

Cons:

I didn’t have any kind of a view (looking onto a wall) but as I specifically asked for a room away from the bar noise downstairs I was happy enough.
The hotel is old and the room furniture reflects that although decent quality and everything you need.
I couldn’t turn down the water temperature, filling up the bath so I had to wait until cool enough. Not a problem but would be if you wanted a shower.

Pros:

Great old hotel and room was nice and bed very comfortable ,great shower, plenty of tea and coffee

Cons:

Room was very hot and couldn’t open windows to get fresh air jst a small fan and a crazy drunken woman setting the fire alarms off late at night which was not the hotels fault
