Location was perfect for beauty which is what we were interested in
It design
Wow on arrival at the gate gardens are in amazing condition.
They laid out with flowers and lawns well kept.
On entry to the hotel your greeted by the very helpful receptionist.
Iris room is a quality space well appointed with views over the front of the hotel.
The stables restaurant is highly recommend all staff were impeccable in their work.
I couldn't fault any of the staff members they made our stay enjoyable

The coffee in the breakfast room was poor as the decaf option was instant which isn't very nice, would have been nice if ham and bread rolls where available in the continental breakfast choices.
It was a lovely setting and the room was very comfortable with all facilities.
The Stables restaurant was really pleasant and atmospheric. The staff were attentive even though it was very busy. it was very close to the Beamish Open Air museum.
We were looking forward to the usual main menu but as it was a Sunday it was different Sunday roast menu which was fine but not what we were hoping for.
Good quality food, well prepsred.
Felt that there should hsve been a notice in the bathroom re the very hot water, mixer taps appreciated but guests could easily get caught out. Also another notice could have advised that sanitary bins and also shower caps were available if needed.
I was met with a warm, friendly reception when I arrived quite late after a long and difficult train journey, I felt instantly comfortable and at ease. My room was lovely and big enough for one, but might have been a little small for two people.
Unfortunately I thought the breakfast was awful and particularly very poor value for money - coffee from a machine, a cheap selection of yoghurts and cereals, and the poached eggs with smashed avacado on toast was a particularly bad experience. The eggs were undercooked and slimy, the smashed avacado was more of a mousse, and the bread was cheap sliced and definitely not what I would consider sourdough. Not great for £17.50.
