Its location was good
Despite paying for a room with a view which was clearly marked and provided to the reception desk, we got stuck with an interior room. The management would not acknowledge this and claimed it was a booking.com issue.
We tried to get Booking.com to talk to the hotel management but they were unable to come to an agreement and the hotel doubled down on this being a booking.com problem.
Booking.com credit us a very small concession for the trouble trying to avoid the bigger issue, which was not well received.
After a lengthy conversation with the hotel management, they finally agreed to allow us to check out at 1pm on the day of our departure.
Despite having a very unpleasant experience, this was at least some give by the hotel management that would have been well received and salvaged some of the stay and experience. What was further unfortunate, was the lack of communication with hotel management and working staff members.
On the day of our departure, we were harassed while we were working on gathering our stuff to officially check out. There were multiple knocks on the door, meet with rude accusations that we were past our check out time. These engagements began at 11:45am and continued with different staff members until 12:45pm. Note that we were well within the timeframe provided by the hotel management of 1pm.
The unpleasant nature of the interactions would have suggested that we were in someway unwelcome, and were likely the retaliation of us complaining about our accommodations and involving booking.com. It is important to note that we are fairly easy going people and are always respectful when addressing issues with hotel staff.
It is my observation that the overall situation we experienced with Amfora, was not limited to this unfortunate encounter but is likely systemic or habitual, if you will.
Hvar is beautiful, and the hotel has a good location,
But we would be unlikely to stay here in the future, let alone recommend this hotel to friends and...
Large comfortable hotel a short stroll from Hvar Town. The new rooms are compact but comfortable and stylish.
Work was still being down on large parts of the hotel when we were there. It wasn’t really a problem apart from the second night when someone working on the floor below thought it was a good idea to start hammering at 3am for nearly an hour. I was told by reception that the manager was aware and would call us but he never did… however the rest of the stay was quiet. Also be aware there is not much hanging space in the wardrobes… especially if staying for 9 nights as we were.
Everything.. the staff was great the upgrade was great! The breakfast was amazing
Nothing.. well maybe. How cold the pool was..
Location was stunning, balcony bar, breakfast restaurant, pool area etc all fantastic. Rooms were clean and lovely too
The reception had a new system and new staff so everything took much longer was wasn’t clear.
We had one room for 3 people (double bed and a sofa bed). But the room kept being made up for 2 people, 2 coffee cups, 2 sets of towels etc, which meant multiple trips back to reception
The hotel had great proximity to the main town square-it was about a 5-10 minute walk. The pool area was lovely and not too crowded in late May, and just outside the pool area there was direct access to the Adriatic for swimming. We would absolutely return to this location. The room was clean, quiet, and updated, so perfect for our needs.
The room itself was small for the price we paid, but we were happy overall. Also, we would have appreciated a laundry room. They had laundry services, but they were quite expensive (up to 10€ per item). For comparison, we instead ended up paying a person 30€ in Split to wash and fold an entire garbage bag of our clothes.
Fantastic location! Beautiful property & facilities. Highly recommend!
Room was small.
Great breakfast with wonderful views, luggage transport from and to ferry was convenient. Pool area was nice (too cold for a swim when we were there), room was renovated and bed was very comfortable. Location was convenient, pleasant walk to center of town.
I had requested a quiet room and was given one at the end of a corridor, unfortunately it was close to a road and I could hear traffic passing until it got late at night. Balcony faced tree so not much of a view.
Proximity, pool access, gym, and breakfast included.
The pictures on the website do not portray what the room is like in person. The bathroom is significantly smaller as well as the room. Some of the hotel is under construction, though no excuse to post pictures that don’t depict the room. I purposefully booked a larger room with a larger bathroom due to being in my third trimester. The hotel said “they were unsure why the pictures looked like that online” and because they were full to capacity were unwilling to help us.
Staff attitude and cleanliness
Bar- not cozy. No entertainment, room too cold towel s too small
Beautiful location just a short coastline walk into town. Great staff and service especially at pool, where the lunchtime food was delicious!
Nothing
Great property and secluded location that gets plenty of sun. Friendly staff and they also take your bags to the ferry when you leave the hotel. So no need to carry all day or come back for them if you have a later ferry
Is a little dated, I was put in wing 4. Also the shower pressure and temp was abysmal. Lukewarm at best which was not pleasant given the weather was not particularly warm. I would not stay here again purely based on this.
Absolutely fabulous staff and location and quality
Nothing!
Clean, comfortable room. Decent breakfast. Lovely pool area. Fantastic location - a pleasant 10 minute walk into the centre of Hvar Town. Port pick-up / drop off for luggage was handy. Good value for money.
Room was rather small. Whilst the breakfast choice was good, some of the hot offerings were often cold.
