A haven from the hustle and bustle of big "Cookie cutter" hotel chains!
Pros:

WOW!!!! several weeks before we were due to stay, we received an email, informing us there would be a wedding taking place on one of the nights of our two night stay, just so we were aware, and not surprised. This was the beginning of the EXCELLENT customer service! 3 days before arriving, a lovely email came from "Georgia" asking us if we had any preferred times for eating our evening meal, and if so , she would book us a slot in advance! Again, never had this type of communication from the big chains. On arrival the hotel was basking in evening sun and the welcome on the front desk was lovely. There were several dogs staying at the hotel, but not one bark was made the whole time! The other reviews mention the tired rooms, and yes, I have to agree, although clean and suited our needs, I would like to think there were plans underfoot to renovate in the next 18 months or so. HOWEVER, if we move on to talk about the quality of the food...... I simply can't tell you how EXCELLENT it was. I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I have been served food that HOT! It was like being a child again, when your told to blow on your food to cool it down! The quality of the produce they use was extremely good and the taste was incredible. The cooked breakfast also came out piping hot!!
The staff in all departments, including the young women cleaning the rooms were polite and chatty, and when I asked her to leave me some extra biscuits, because even they were gorgeous ("Ringtons ginger snaps", I even took a picture of the packaging to order some when we got home!) she kindly did.
Oh, by the way, the wedding was absolutely beautiful, the hotel staff seemed to be beside them for every want and need, and when it came to the music and celebrations you honestly couldn't hear a thing.
Big chains might have the money to bombard us with flash social media hits and fancy websites, but this is an honest to goodness hotel, run and care for by local staff and its just nice to get that feeling back that so many hotels have lost or replaced with "Swishness". If you go "up north" then be prepared to be "Up north" !

We will definitely be booking to go back and we have been telling a lot of people about the amazing inclusive deal on offer.....with food of the standard we got on both nights, I would pay double!!

The higher crapp
Pros:

We booked a family room at the Higher crapp Hotel over six months in advance. This stay was crucial for us, as our daughter’s wedding was taking place the next day at a nearby venue.

When we arrived on Friday, we noticed the hotel was hosting weddings. We had absolutely no issue with that, until we got to our family room and realized it was located directly above the disco. The music was unbearably loud—so loud that the bass was literally shaking our room.
This was an absolute nightmare because my 13-year-old daughter was a bridesmaid and had to be up at 6:00 AM to be transported to the wedding venue. I went downstairs to request that the music be turned down. While they lowered it slightly, the booming bass continued to blast until 12:30 AM.

Once the music finally stopped, the chaos didn't. Drunk wedding guests were allowed to freely roam the corridors, screaming loudly and having sing-alongs. People were evenurinating on the hotel grounds. To top it off, the guests in the room next door decided to keep the party going inside their room. As a result of the total lack of control or security by the hotel staff, we did not get to sleep until 3:00 AM.

To put a family in a room directly over a booming night venue and then completely fail to manage the antisocial behavior of drunk guests in the corridors afterward—is a total and utter disgrace. We woke up exhausted and stressed on what should have been one of the happiest days of our lives. If you value your sleep or have an important event the next day, stay far away from this place.

Room could have been better, terrace was lovely
Pros:

Terrace was nice and so was the bar. The breakfast was ok but the room in a separate house was quite poor and really outdated.

Cons:

The room was way below the standard of everything else at the hotel

Very disappointing
Pros:

Good - location of the hotel is amazing! Stunning views and hotel grounds.
The staff are generally very good - polite, helpful.
Special mention to Georgia on reception who was fabulous this morning when my husband fell getting out of the shower and badly injured himself.

Bad- Poor quality room (even though I upgraded) Bathroom & bedroom not the best cleanliness-wise. Everything tired and dated.
My husband was so shocked at the price I paid for 1 night all inclusive (basic) which included afternoon tea (passable but definitely not great), 45 mins in the hot tub & £25 each towards evening meal & drinks between 6pm-11pm. And that was embarrassing at check in when I was told how much I owed in front of him.
He was even more upset when after we’d paid for a couple of drinks during the afternoon - the quality of lager in the all inclusive was awful!
He therefore requested an amaretto with ice, only to be told he HAD to have a mixer with his amaretto - they weren’t allowed to serve them straight. It seemed ridiculous that my 66 year old husband cannot have the drink he wanted on his birthday treat!!?? He’s never had a mixer with amaretto and tried it with soda to discover it’s undrinkable. He didn’t take advantage of any more drinks after 2 extremely disappointing options.
Dinner was passable but £8.50 for 3 scoops of cheap ice cream is extortionate!
Breakfast this morning wasn’t good and I didn’t realise coffee machines contain gluten ingredients in them (assuming it was that as I specifically asked for gluten free breakfast)
I was very ill straight after breakfast having had a very bad gluten reaction to something.
Then to top the night away off, my husband slipped getting out of the shower (which is over the bath) this morning. The towelling bath mat slid across the tiled floor as he got out of the shower and he injured all his back.
Needless to say he never wants to return and I felt bad recommending it after staying in February with my friend.

I loved the place.
Pros:

The decor was Beautiful, very comfortable. Nice location.

Cons:

The receptionist on Sunday morning was well moody.
Breakfast didn’t have many options. Very limited. Chicken or beef sausage option would be nice for someone who doesn’t eat pork.
Also only one poor lady serving breakfast

Good location for what we needed, but hotel needs a refurb.
Pros:

The bed linen and towels were clean, the staff were friendly and helpful.

Cons:

The hallways smelt foisty, the bedroom and bathroom needed a full refurb - they are tired and dated. The bath was creaky and felt like the bottom was going to cave in, the hot water didn't say hot. Overall, a little disappointed for the amount we paid.
