Classic pousada hotel perfect for relaxing and contemplating amazing views of the river.
Pros:

This pousada is set in a beautiful well-preserved fortress town with panoramic views of the Minho River, mountains and countryside. We loved the variety of lounges with picture windows of the scenery. The hotel was built in 1962 and was no doubt very stylish at the time. Now it seems a little dated, but on the other hand, the furniture is solid and avantgarde and nothing feels cookie cutter IKEA style. Loved the fresh flowers and plants carefully tended to everywhere giving it a homey touch. Found everything very clean, breakfast was very good and the building was obviously designed as a very peaceful spot to contemplate the views. Restaurant is currently closed but will open soon they said.

Gorgeous, comfortable stay
Pros:

The views were spectacular, the Minho River winding between Portugal and Spain among lush verdant trees, cityscapes, hills and valleys.The staff were friendly and helpjul. We had left our bags, and they were already in our room when we returned to check in. A sweet note with pasteis de nata and fruit awaited us in the room. The social spaces were inviting & plentiful, the rooms spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. The pousada sat at the far end of the ancient fortaleza with fabulous trails. Tons of stores and places to eat. We'll definitely return.

Cons:

There are no elevators, so it's difficult for the mobility impaired. They have some rooms on the main floor. I suggest you request one when you reserve if needed..

Simpatia e amabilidade de todos os funcionários sem exceção. Localização fantástica no interior da Fortaleza de Valença. Quarto com uma vista maravilhosa para o rio Minho e para Tui.

Adorei TUDO... O único inconveniente, é a saída de carro justo onde começa a rampa faz uma lomba e o veículo patina quem fez a obra poderia prever isso... Mas tudo o resto excelente a paisagem desde o quanto é simplesmente mágico ADOREI
