Pros:

The location was fab. So close to Amsterdam central stadium and easy walking to city centre

A bit dated in decoration. Our bed was very uncomfortable

Het zwembad was gesloten en dat wisten we pas de dag voordien waardoor we niet meer van hotel konden veranderen. Sommige delen, zoals de tapijten, zijn wel wat versleten.

5 star opulence with 3 star service. For the price (£400 per room per night) Disappointed
Pros:

5 star hotel within 15 mins walk from central train station. Grand design dating back to late Victorian era, full of character and history. Beautiful interior and features

Cons:

One of the reasons for booking a 6 day stay was for use of the pool. Informed the day before that it wasn’t available. Absolute farce and no real explanation or form of compensation.
Concerningly, 3 star service at times. Staff were pleasant and well mannered attempting to help with our needs. However, some staff struggle with English as a second language leading to confusion. For example, “make up my room” hanging on the door was confused with “do not disturb” and we had to ring down 4 times in 6 days. Also, the TV wasn’t initially working, broken chair in the room, original windows not closing fully due to age and room grubby. Could write your name in the upper shelves. Not what is expected of a 5 star hotel. Breakfast also a bit confusing for some staff and some poorly trained. Asked for 2 large cups and server went to kitchen to only fetch 2 cups even though she could see a queue behind me. Very odd

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel!

The location and the staff make this a good place to stay!
Pros:

It is a beautiful building, in a good location. Easy walking distance to most sites! Or easy access to train station or metro stops! The breakfast is very good!

Cons:

The bed frame was too high making it very uncomfortable to get on or off of the bed, or to even sit on the edge of the bed. The air conditioning did not work well, forcing us to use a fan that was provided by the hotel. The breakfast is a little costly!
