A charming hotel with a fantastic location, but unfortunately let down by outdated facilities and a lack of comfort
Pros:

The location is fantastic, and the hotel has a lovely, classic British charm that’s hard to find in modern hotels. The bed was also comfortable.

Cons:

- The shower was honestly one of the least comfortable I’ve experienced, and I’ve stayed in many hotels over the years. The shower head is fixed high on the wall, making it almost impossible to wash your body without getting your hair completely wet. It was also heavily affected by limescale, so the water sprayed in all directions rather than as a proper stream. The temperature was difficult to adjust, and having to stand in a very small bathtub with a shower curtain that constantly sticks to you made the whole experience quite unpleasant. I understand the bathroom is designed to match the vintage style of the hotel, but the fixtures should still be modern, practical, and well maintained.
- The sink was clogged, and the hot water from the tap was not working.
- The room gets quite stuffy at night without proper ventilation.
- The coffee machine was broken.
- There aren’t enough power sockets close to the bed.
- The carpet in the room was quite dirty. As the hotel is carpeted throughout, this may not be ideal for guests with allergies.
- There was no mini-bar/fridge in the room
- It would be great to have a no-duvet option (just a sheet or light blanket) for the warmer summer nights.

Pros:

Location is good, staff are friendly and helpful. Windows actually open so fresh air is available.

Cons:

I booked a room with fridge and a/c and my room had neither. Receptionist was able to change my room to 1 with a/c on my 3rd night (staying for 5 nights). It was extremely hot for my entire stay.Booking.com may have been at fault with the room as their website showed the room had the facilities I required.

Great location. Lovely hotel. DONT stay there when it’s hot.
Pros:

Location. Staff. Setting. Style. ‘History’.

Cons:

You don’t want to be staying there when it’s hot. No ac. If you’re in a back room. It’s horrendous. Sadly the ‘fan’ they provide in the room doesn’t make much difference. Can’t sleep. Uncomfortable.
