The staff was friendly
I did not get the rooms I booked. The keys never worked correctly.
Horrible, horrible, horrible! Staff is horrible. Housekeeping rooms were not prepared. Mckinkey and Meynard are the worst. This place continues to go down! I have stayed under previous management and even the front office staff the current management do not know what they’re doing. Please REMOVE the Marriott name!!!!
Never again. Seriously.
I travel frequently and usually choose Marriott or Hilton properties. Marriott is generally a safe bet, so I never expected a Courtyard by Marriott to make me wonder whether I had accidentally booked a Motel 6.
My first room had pubic hair on the shower floor and smelled like dirty socks. The air conditioner couldn’t be adjusted or turned off and ran nonstop. After calling the front desk, I waited more than 30 minutes for a technician and another 30 min for him in my room fixing it.
For my second stay, I booked a “better” room. Instead, I was placed in the older building, which was noticeably worn and less appealing than the newer one.
The real surprise was the door—it would not lock at all. Not difficult to lock. Not broken occasionally. It simply would not lock. Since the room opens directly to an exterior walkway, this was more than a minor inconvenience. Yes, they fixed it but I’m not comfortable.
If you stay here, don’t assume you’ll be assigned to the newer building. My experience was disappointing enough that I won’t be staying here again.
We stay at Marriott properties all over. These were the worst rooms- small and cheap. Was able to get into the Waikiki Marriott for my second night. Also in a very busy loud part of town
Hotel location was 12min walk to Waikiki. Room was average and simple.
Eveything was so expensive. The room was located above the bar and pool, so it was noisy when we opened the door of the balcony.
I’m in Hawaii for a multi‑month work stay, and after a disappointing experience at another hotel, I moved to the Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki. The difference has been incredible.
After about twenty days, I asked about upgrading my room. The staff clearly explained the small additional charge and immediately offered to show me the room so I could decide for myself. Later that day, I received an email from Lorey Martin, the Assistant Front Office Manager, suggesting I also view one of their one‑bedroom suites since I’d be staying long‑term. His approach was thoughtful and never pushy.
I ended up moving from 199 sq ft to 399 sq ft suite for what I consider a very reasonable price. A few minor issues I mentioned were fixed the same day while I was at work.
The service here has been consistently excellent. The valet team deserves special recognition, Vincent always has my car ready and even remembers my schedule. Housekeeping has also been outstanding, always respecting my Do Not Disturb sign and leaving notes to keep me informed.
This hotel has made my extended stay in Waikiki comfortable and stress‑free. Highly recommended for long‑term travelers and anyone who values great service.
Awesome location, great staff that is super helpful and friendly, and loved the look of the rooms! We did a staycation to celebrate my son's graduation and all were accomodating and flexible. Special shout out to Eunike and Kalehua who made my stay with my family comfortable and memorable!
Stayed here for 3 nights for business.
Pros:
Great location – in the heart of Waikiki. Everything is less than a 10 minute walk away, including the beach.
Target and the International Market Place about a 6-7 minute walk away.
Plenty of restaurants, dessert places, etc. nearby.
Friendly staff – I have to give a shoutout to the young lady (who said she was a manager) working the nightshift when I checked in on Tuesday night. It was past 10pm and she was the only one working the desk and a handful of people waiting. She was very patient and friendly and was as efficient as possible.
Decent room – based on reviews, I did not have high expectations but the room was actually pretty good. First, it was quiet which was great because I got a good night’s sleep. There was one night where I had some party-goers outside and some cars revving their engines, so I would recommend bringing earplugs. However, the A/C worked great, and I had a nice, partial view of the ocean from the balcony (stayed on 14th floor). Did not hear anything from nearby guests or rooms.
Good pool and gym – felt clean.
Free water and ice dispenser in the lobby.
Cons:
Short staffed – 2 staff at front desk in the evenings would be helpful. This is a busy hotel for not only being in Waikiki, but I saw airline staff and cruise staff staying here too.
The room did feel a little muggy at times when turned off, so I would recommend keeping the A/C on at all times.
The shower took a while for hot water to come out. And it was never hot, more like warm.
I would stay here again in the future, mostly because I tempered my expectations and understand that you won’t be getting a 5-star hotel unless you pay $1K a night.
The hotel did it’s job and a small word of advice to visitors is to remember “Hawaii time” as it will apply to mostly everything you experience there. So be patient and enjoy the good times.
We booked one night to be closer to the airport. We came from staying at the Kahala for a week. Notwithstanding the Kahala this was the most rinky dink courtyard I’ve ever stayed at. Where to begin:
We were given a “penthouse “ room. The balcony was shared with the other rooms where anyone could look into our room. In the bathroom there were no amenities, just a single bar of soap. The towels were so thin they might as well be made of paper. There was a coffee maker with powdered cream. There was a meager place on the lobby floor to get “breakfast “. The staff was pathetic and unresponsive. I can’t think of a worse place I’d ever stayed at.
Under no circumstances should you stay here!
Location
Nothing to dislike about this property
Fantastic Hotel, very clean and great service. Enjoyed the Jacuzzi and heated pool and the Mexican food was delicious.
I have had such a lovely experience with McKinley, Ennike, Matt, Ari, Kalehua, and Meynard. They have taken such good care of me over my long-term stay and I feel very confident asserting that if you stay here, you’ll feel nothing but “Aloha” in their hands.
I travel extensively for work and I’ve always stayed with the Marriott brand name. This hotel is exceptional in its customer service, location, and overall ambience. The staff here is superb and go out of their way to ensure the guests are taken care of. Matt, as well as the other front desk staff personnel always go above and beyond to make me feel welcome every time I travel to this location. I highly recommend this location.
