The hopelessness of a member of staff when trying to alter my booking!!
She was incapable of communicating ( language barrier) I thought I was being scammed. !! The whole booking became a fiasco !!

Right in the heart of the city. Excellent value (£67 for a double) really helpful and friendly receptionist (Harriet) who was superb. Parking was available for £7. I would recommend the place.

The staff were exceptional.
No USB sockets in the room. No master light switch next to the bed.
Staff were all really friendly. Had a bar meal which we enjoyed.
We had a poor experience using the pool with our children. Firstly, there had been an issue with the boiler so it was freezing. The biggest issue however were other users. The hotel allows memberships so while we were there, 6 local people were using the pool for swimming. They took the entire breadth of the pool for lane swimming and there was no space for the kids to do what kids do in pools - I.e. play and practice holding breath underwater etc. one man insisted that the kids should be swimming lengths the same as him. The kids felt so uncomfortable they wanted to leave after 10 mins in the water. We travel often and select hotels with a pool for the kids to enjoy. Some hotels have selected family time which we don’t mind, others have dedicated lanes roped off, also fine. In this case the entire pool was commandeered by local members who allowed no room for us unless we only wanted to lane swim (which are kids are too small for). This hotel has not understood that different users of a pool have different purposes for using it and so we were pushed out. After spending a good bit of money to stay here because it had a pool, this left a really sour taste and so despite the staff themselves being nice, we cannot recommend this hotel to families. The needs of the gym members seemed more important and we were unwelcome and felt unable to utilise the facilities we had paid for.
Staff were excellent
It's a heritage site, and so there are no aircon, and the room is outdated. Because it's mid summer, the lack of Aircon was the issue.
