Location was excellent
Lift out of order, 4 flights of stairs was a nightmare as I have arthritis in both ankles. My bed had something hard in middle of mattress which was quite uncomfortable to sleep on.
Stay was fine. Building exterior needs some upgrades but the interior was very nice taking into account the age of the facility.
Room was comfortable but NOT what I would consider a suite, which we upgraded too.
Elevator being out of order making the upgrade to a suite useless having to climb four levels of stairs every time we wanted to leave the room. We booked two rooms over six months prior to our visit at their sister hotel, only to find out they only reserved one room for us. We took it upon ourselves to book a "third" room at this location so we knew we had a place to stay, and separated from our travel companions. No help in getting assistance once they knew we booked another room, at their location, and no suggestion of upgrade or compensation. On site staff was good, but "that is all we can do".
Breakfast was lovely view amazing
Cold hash browns
All good.
Looks a bit tired from outside. Maybe needs a touch of paint on the windows.
Location service
Waiting for lift !
Good location and comfortable room
Nothing of note
The staff were VERY friendly, half board dinning was ok,
There is NOT FREE PARKING ON SITE despite this being advertised on booking.com
I had to argue with staff who clearly said there was no parking
In the end I insisted on parking at Alexandra Hotel, which was a huge problem as my friend had mobility issues
The Muthu Oban Regent hotel could be an anttractive art deco building but it is in need of maintenance and looks very tired. Litter accumulated at the back, not uplifted for 4 days, was an unpleasant view from some bedrooms. Inside the reception was bright and along with the dining room has been refurbished but the stair carpets were dirty and stained. My room was clean, had everything required and a good shower, the only negative being that the hairdryer was fixed in a drawer (not unreasonable) but the short cable meant reaching the back of my head was difficult and there was absolutely no way of seeing in a mirror while drying. Food was more or less acceptable though the muesli for breakfast ran out. The bar had a very poor selection of wine - white: a Pinot Grigio (£9.50, 125ml) and a full-bodied Chardonnay (more expensive); red: a Merlot & a Malbec (£9.50, 125ml) which both ran out on the 2nd night, and a Cabernet Sauvignon (more expensive). For a hotel to have no Sauv blanc and to run out of all basic red wine, despite knowing there was a large group expected, is unbelievably bad management! The lift wasn’t working for any of the 4 days we were there - staff were friendly and helpful carrying suitcases upstairs.
Comfortable light and mostly well-equipped room with amazing views over the harbour. Great location. Stayed on a 'room only' basis preferring to enjoy excellent local sea-food restaurants for meals so cannot comment on restaurant facilities. Staff very courteous and helpful.
Didnt like it that room did not have any bedside lighting which meant one person could not have a light on without disturbing the other.
Didn't like the shower which required the user to constantly press down a stiff button to obtain any water flow. This seemed ridiculously inconvenient and totally impractical for anyone with health issues such as arthritis in their hands.
The unavailability of the lift for apparent routine maintenance on the Friday evening and Saturday morning seemed poor timing and was definitely inconvenient.
Location and comfort
Unfortunately lifts were out of order at times due to maintenance. Staff were great helping with luggage
Perfect hotel, in a great location. Friendly staff, clean room and very comfy bed. Our room had a sea view. Would definitely recommend.
Couldn't stay longer
Good location for the ferry
View of the bins. Breakfast was shockingly bad, bacon looked steamed and no effort made to cater for gluten free persons.
The view from my room of the harbour.
An odd ambience of a partially restored art deco hotel, yet lacking the skill and money to do the job properly.
I'm 82 and arthritic. The lift wasn't working. My room was on the 4th floor. Staff offered to take my case but that was of little use.
So friendly staff willing to anything for you to make your stay so welcoming very clean great place to stay can't wait to go back
The welcome , position and comfort
