The Cromwell hotel is not a place I recommend during the warm part of the year
Pros:

It is a charming place, with nicely decorate rooms. In these summer days, the terrance on the front is a nice place to enjoy a drink while enjoying the cool air of the sun sunset.

Cons:

I visit this hotel regularly through the year and I usually enjoy my staying. However, the Cromwell hotel is not a place I recommend during the warm part of the year (anything above 24C), even more so during the recent heat wave (+30C).
The way the rooms are built, tends to trap in heat and keep it through the night, when the temperature dropped. The windows cannot be open for more than a few inches because of some block. In many rooms the only relief is given a small electric fan.
When I stayed here my previous time I was forced to change room at my on expense, regardless of the unbearable conditions (very small room, window partially blocked, opening on the hotel AC units).
This time I found in my room a portable AC unit, unfortunately broken because it was misused previously. The staff was not very helpful in this instance.

Pros:

Old style, classic

Cons:

Small room, no airco, windows not opening, for a 4 stars missing a lot of things including the cleaning is done only 2days. Absolutely not a 4 star hotel.

Cons:

Too Hot!!!!
Pros:

Staff we're very good

Cons:

No Air con. Very poor in a hotel. I travel for work. And have never stayed in a major hotel without aircon. Its pretty standard now. They should invest. With windows that hardly open. The room was unbearable. I has considered leaving and booking somewhere else but due to a local event everywhere was booked.

Nice hotel good location could do better with the things we didnt like. Not sure we would stay again
Pros:

The bed was very comfortable , decor tasteful and the room and en suite were very clean.
Had a light salad for eve meal very nice indeed. Staff in dining room were attentive and efficient

Cons:

It was a very long walk to the room and back to the foyer/dining room.

It was not made clear on the booking that there was no air conditioning so we only found out on arrival.....it was a extreme heatwave conditions and we just had a fan for the bedroom so this made sleeping very uncomfortable I only slept for about 2 hours.

Breakfast was awful, all of the English breakfast food was stone cold at the buffet counter, no fried eggs available only cold scrambled egg! not what we were expecting for the price of the stay. We invited family to join us for breakfast and frankly were embarressed and paid for it ourselves to apologize

Everything we needed and more with friendly staff. Exceeded expectations
Pros:

Staff welcoming, very clean, lots of charging points, powerful shower

Cons:

Too hot - not the properties fault - they had a portable air conditioner in the room going full on, but I visited at the end of a crazy heatwave so I guess the heat had built up during the week.

Nice hotel with a few issues
Pros:

Near venue I was attending

Cons:

No air con , no fan in room , had to ask , no modern plug points for just usb etc. shower head so high it toppled off , thankfully didn’t hit my feet, pressure was very good though , thought housekeeper should have checked the toilet as there was poo still there ! Went to breakfast as already paid for it , but upon looking at the underdone sausages and bacon , I decided against it , I have not received a refund for this .
