Liked it nothing to dislike
Location is excellent, however can be extremely noisy until early hours of the morning due to close vicinity to pubs and bars, and loud tourists in the area. Not an issue if you don’t mind this.
There are two buildings. One of them is from the 14th century and doesn’t have a lift. Not an issue unless you don’t mind stairs. Also, if you like peace and quiet then maybe think again as it’s a busy area with pubs, bars and loud tourists.
Location is right at astronomical clock. Excellent breakfast.
The breakfast was very good and the room was excellent however, the room was in an area not in the hotel and was on the second floor with no elevator which made it difficult to walk up and down the stairs.
Having a room in the part of the hotel that had the elevator.

The location, the breakfast and the staff were perfect. The reception was very helpful and polite. The hotel is spacious. Also, the place gave as a sense of security.
There is an issue with the ventilation of the sewerage pipes which results in a weird plipping noise when we used the shower but no smell or something nasty.
Very good location.
The breakfast was limited and the quality was not great. The rooms were very clean, the beds although very pretty were not comfortable, very difficult to get on and off because of the large wooden frame. The wooden chairs also pretty but uncomfortable. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Only one part of the hotel has elevator access, the other half no access and a lot of stairs, not for people with mobility issues. We booked a room with elevator access and were given a room without and a lot of stairs. We requested a change of rooms to the elevator side, and they obliged.
We stayed for 9 nights in May 2026, in room 201 in the historic section of the Grand hotel Praha, with a 2 window view that opened for a direct view the main square & Astronomical clock. You could not have a better view of the clock or square! 5 star view with cute geranium filled window boxes outside the window! Very picturesque from the outside of the building!
This is a large king sized bedroom with slippers and bathrobes provided to use.
There are 2 big Armoires to unpack you clothes and room in the entryway to store your luggage. A safe is provided to lock your passports & other valuables. There is no coffee maker in the room and there is a small fridge (mini bar?) that has beverages inside (for a fee you can drink these beverages).
This is a TV but we never turned it on, so we have no knowledge of how this system worked.
There were 2 bottles of water and a very cute authentic Czech gingerbread recipe cookie set, as a welcome gift. Nice touch!
Since this is in the historic part of the hotel, there is no elevator. 64 steps up to our room on the 2nd floor. Thankfully we had help getting our luggage up those stairs upon check in.
The bathroom is large with double sinks, long tile counter and both a toilet and bidet to use. The shower/tub was the one area that needed reconfiguring: This is a 3 sided glass paneled shower area, with one of those side panels being the swinging door to step into the tub, to then close so you can use the shower. The shower head is placed on the tile wall, which you have to angle towards the glass panel corner, but you have to angle your body to receive the full shower stream. The shower head is removable from the wall, which helps to rinse off, but if you need both hands, the placement of the showering apparatus, is odd---it might do a better job if the shower head came down from the ceiling? Not sure. Again this is the historic part of the hotel so this might be the best option available? We felt you had to be careful so that you would not accidentally fall out of the tall tub/shower if you leaned against that one glass panel door....there is nothing to grab to catch yourself.
The complimentary breakfast in the Mozart Cafe was excellent! The Cafe has a direct view of the Astronomical Clock & Old Town Square. The breakfast buffet has a full selection of meats, cheeses, sandwiches, pasta salads, scrambled/fried eggs, traditional Czech hot-dogs, pancakes, oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruits, choice of juices, fresh breads, excellent selection of jams & jellies, and wonderful pastries! There is a coffee/espresso maker to make your coffee which was always the busy part of the breakfast room. There is only one coffee/espresso machine, so people lined up their cups to be the next person to get his or her coffee. Except for the coffee, you did not have to wait for anything else to have your delicious breakfast!
The front desk staff were good but not always cordial--we walked passed the lobby desk several times and although we made eye contact, we were never greeted 'Ahoj' (hello in Czech) or given a smile and nod. Not all desk staff are knowledgeable on what you're asking, so there was a bit of a language barrier in some areas. The staff we felt could be a little more cordial to its guests.
The entrance to the Grand Hotel Praha is right on the square, so if you need to arrange an Uber or shuttle ride, we recommend a meeting spot across the square by the Cartier corner store. This requires you to carry/drag your wheeled luggage over tough cobblestone, but this location we're suggesting for pick up/drop off with Uber/taxi/shuttle, makes sense when you see where the entrance to the hotel is located. It is really only a 2-3 minute walk across the square to where you would meet your uber, taxi or shuttle from the Grand Hotel Praha lobby door.
Our only nightly issue was the noise that came from the 'bar time' crowd. We usually had our windows open at night and the general dining and Astronomical clock crowd is an easy noise to get used to up until midnight, however the 2 and 3 AM drinking crowd was something you could not sleep through with the windows open.
If you had your windows closed, the noise/sound was truly minimal---even when the clock chimed! Excellent sound proof windows when they were closed!
Housekeeping is very thorough and we liked to leave them a small tip everyday. Everything in the room was clean and fully restocked with bathroom amenities: shampoo/body wash in one, conditioner, body lotion, vanity set, etc) every day.
This hotel is so centrally located, it's hard to suggest another hotel with a better 'right on the square' location and Czech charm!
An extra bonus was that all guests are given a 15% off card to use at one of the two restaurants located directly in front of the hotel, on the square. This was very convenient when you wanted to just sit and relax and have a simple dinner. We used our card several times and the pizza in particular was delicious!
Added bonus if you like coffee: the Grand Hotel Praha has 2 Starbucks located on either side of the hotel lobby! Just walk out the door and turn left or right! The breakfast does not open until 7:30 AM, but sometimes coffee is needed before then, so we would visit the nearby Starbucks!
Overall our stay was very pleasant and enjoyable at this historic hotel!
Perfect location, good breakfast buffet, beautiful restaurant and decor. Also, room was nice and large.
Bed caused each of us to fight rolling to the outside, wooden frame squeaked loudly. Also bathroom door hinge and doorknob needs to be oiled as all the various squeaks and creaks make it impossible not to wake your spouse.
