The bedroom was amazing, newly decorated, fresh and clean.
Foyer dark and tired, carpet needs deep cleaning!
Beautiful historic building, great location. New dining option TRUVA which is accessible from the foyer is outstanding, food was genuinely incredible, fresh and soooo tasty, give Mel and her team a visit 7am-11pm (highly recommend the Avocado eggs)
Foyer carpet needs deep clean, would benefit from some upgrades in foyer and bedroom.
Very helpful car valet attendant even though I didn’t use the car valet.
Starbucks part of the building
Very unfriendly and unhelpful receptionist.
Very old, needs updating
Car parking fees extortionate
Value for fees
Liked the location, good proximity to downtown and the San Diego Convention Center. Loved the yoga and workout rooms.
Room was a bit small including a small bathroom.
I liked the location. The trolley and buses were easily accessible. All the staff were very friendly. I would differently stay here again.
Always have a good experience here, love the location, close to water and Little Italy. Rooms are more than adequate for the price - all in all a good value. Also good breakfast places very close by - not to mention a fabulous historic little bar and restaurant called Dobson's a block and 1/2 away.
Amazing location and staff, we went due to a Tableau Conference and no only the location was amaizing, also the staff was very helpfull
Beds very comfortable and very clean
Room to small for two beds and no room to store luggage for two
Fantastic location, beautiful and very comfortable rooms, and really nice staff. I held a training in the Sophia's conference room which was easy and really delightful. I loved the brightness of the rooms that could be changed with the lighting, the dual thermostat made it nice for all of our guests, and the ease of the tech. They offer a healthy and delicious beverage in the lobby, different every day! We enjoyed our breaks and closeness to the waterfront, a ton of restaurants, and peaceful sitting areas. Highly recommended! We will visit again!
Beautiful historic hotel on the heart of downtown San Diego. Stayed on our last day of our trip and wished we could stay longer. Amazing young gentleman at reception upgraded us to a two bed accessible room. We’ve travelled the world and this was one of the best accessible rooms ever!
I would really love to express my gratitude for AMY at the front desk of the Sofia Hotel. Her kindness has made such a difference in my life. My mother is flying in to see me perform on the cruise ship and we needed a last minute hotel. Amy helped me find the space, book the room but what touched me the most was how she was so understanding with my situation and went ABOVE and BEYOND to help my mom have the most comfortable stay. It meant the WORLD to me and I will never forget her extra thoughtfulness. THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart. Because of AMY, I would recommend this hotel and experience over and over.
Location
Not clean not comfortable
Great location. Friendly staff! Easy layout. Elevevarors arrived quickly. Bed was clean and very comfortable. Plenty of pillows and towels.
Room 517 smelled like rotten fruit had just been removed from refrigerator my entire 2 day stay.. No central lighting over the main area, so room is very dark. Shower has no shelf for soap or personal toiletries. No movie channels or streaming services, and several Direct TV channels were not available.
I love what they have done to preserve and enhance this piece of SD history. i did a staycation and found the location a perfect starting point for walks to the Gaslamp, Little Italy or even Balboa Park.
Affordable hotel stay for a really nice San Diego hotel friendly staff most importantly the facility had a gym and had super convenient location
Nice oasis in the the middle of the gas light district...While I was warned about the area...I felt completely safe in this hotel and their parking lot. You can tell it is rare privately run hotel that has great staff and people that care about their facility.
Solid hotel experience. Nice Nespresso maker in room was an unexpected bonus. The room was serviced consistently and well. Some hallway noise was a nuisance, and the comb-like shape of the building meant my room had no view (except of a nearby brick wall), but the location (proximity to both Little Italy and the Gaslamp) was key for me. The area can be a bit sketchy in a bit of a no-man's-land between the two areas, so uneasy travelers should take rideshares at night. But an overall good experience.
