Location and bar/breakfast room
Alarm kept going off in our room and the hotel could not stop it. Not much in the room. Don’t feel like value for money.
Tout était parfait, chambre, au calme, spacieuse.
Bar sympa et très bon pt dej.
No lift, too many steps to climb to get to our room. Good job me and my partner we are fit otherwise it was going to be a nightmare.🤪 Thank you to the receptionist and the gentleman who helped us with our luggage..
Great location centre of rye with a lovely garden terrace. Stylish design in lounge and bedrooms. Friendly staff. Bed very comfortable
It’s an old building so to be expected but lots of squeaky floorboards / sound from other rooms - be prepared if your a light sleeper.
Restaurant food ok but menu a little limiting especially for vegetarians.
Central location in a beautiful town. The hotel itself is well decorated and comfortable bed.
All good.
Stopped for tea in the courtyard, whilst exploring Rye. Nothing too much trouble for the staff and a lovely place to sit and relax. Looking at the interior, website and the team, would love to come back and stay
The staff were lovely and our room, the courtyard space and other communal spaces were really wonderful.
Nothing!
Everything
It was a very hot day and we couldn’t open the bedroom window but there was a fan. Delicious dinner and friendly staff.
This was so far our favorite hotel on a multi-city trip. Rye is a lovely little town, and the George is perfectly located. Sadly for the hotel, there was I gather a fairly substantial fire in recent years, forcing a major remodel. The result is a historic building, a historic facade ... but modern-feeling amenities (plumbing etc). I'm baffled by an earlier review complaining about things feeling tired, it felts very new to us. Lovely staff, excellent bar, wonderful stay.
Service
Meal was very good but rushed.
Home from an overnight stay at The George.
The hotel is beautiful & a labyrinth of different rooms.
Staff are all so friendly & welcoming.
Our room was absolutely beautiful. We were lucky to be upgraded.
As we entered there was soft music coming from the little radio on the side, a lovely touch.
Queen size comfortable bed. Tv , armchairs, lovely views from the windows, the bathroom had a free standing bath, and the shower was a good size, with shampoo/ conditioner/ soap to use & bath robes should you need one. Perfect.
We had a drink in the bar where the young man was very accommodating in recommending drinks.
We booked an evening meal in the hotel restaurant. Food was delicious, and service great. Unfortunately I didn’t get any names, but every member of staff were all so nice.
We had breakfast in the morning which runs from 8am until 10 am I believe. There was a choice of items to have while you waited for your ordered cooked item to arrive.
All cooked beautifully.
Checkout was easy.
We had parked a short walk away in the large market carpark which is £3 for 24 hours.
I would definitely recommend and return to the George if we ever visit Rye again ..
We loved it …
It’s such a lovely hotel
Staff very friendly, clean rooms, manager happy to chat and tell us about the future of the look out
Nothing not to like x
Superb location - close to the station and all the main points of interest,
Dinner menu could have been more varied and could be slightly altered from night to night.
