Wonderful over night stay in a beautiful Hotel.
Pros:

Home from an overnight stay at The George.
The hotel is beautiful & a labyrinth of different rooms.
Staff are all so friendly & welcoming.
Our room was absolutely beautiful. We were lucky to be upgraded.
As we entered there was soft music coming from the little radio on the side, a lovely touch.
Queen size comfortable bed. Tv , armchairs, lovely views from the windows, the bathroom had a free standing bath, and the shower was a good size, with shampoo/ conditioner/ soap to use & bath robes should you need one. Perfect.
We had a drink in the bar where the young man was very accommodating in recommending drinks.
We booked an evening meal in the hotel restaurant. Food was delicious, and service great. Unfortunately I didn’t get any names, but every member of staff were all so nice.
We had breakfast in the morning which runs from 8am until 10 am I believe. There was a choice of items to have while you waited for your ordered cooked item to arrive.
All cooked beautifully.
Checkout was easy.
We had parked a short walk away in the large market carpark which is £3 for 24 hours.
I would definitely recommend and return to the George if we ever visit Rye again ..
We loved it …

Very pleased with the hotel and will look to come again later this year.
Pros:

Superb location - close to the station and all the main points of interest,

Cons:

Dinner menu could have been more varied and could be slightly altered from night to night.

Disappointed
Pros:

Wonderfully helpful staff. However cleanliness was very sadly lacking. Carpet edges and around furniture very dusty. Tops of furniture clean but lower levels and skirting boards looked like they had grown beards. The wardrobe in my room was an old fashioned bamboo, very pretty, but strips missing and nails sticking out. Bed very clean but personally speaking ,like sleeping on a billiard table.
The food was good.
I am disabled and it is totally unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues.

Very pleasant.
Pros:

Location, staff, bar and bar staff, breakfast.

Cons:

We had heavy suitcases and my husband was left to carry them to the top floor to an attic room. Probably should have been communicated that. Or at least offered assistance. Also that particular room was really no good for travellers like us that had travelled a long way and had large suitcases. Probably need to be better communication about that.

Good stay but could have been better
Pros:

Central to Rye. Clean and on the whole friendly

Cons:

Shower drainage was smelly and slow. Had to keep stopping the shower. Also breakfast was a little disorganised. One member of staff was outstanding but others one was sullen and almost rude.

Terrible
Pros:

In spite of the helpful reception staff and reasonable room, I certainly wouldn't recommend The George, particularly in warm weather. The housekeeping was dubious - a sock under the bedroom chair, cardboard toilet roll tube on the bathroom floor, thick dust in reception - and there is nil air conditioning, just a fan which of course makes a room hotter. We had requested a twin room, but were given a double room on the top floor. It was blamed on Booking.com but we had confirmation from the hotel, which was denied. The bed only had a heavy duvet, no sheet, so we were forced ro sleep uncovered, leading to insect bite overload. About an hour's sleep, if that. Breakfast was bad for vegans. In spite of offering a full vegan breakfast, the vegan Continental offering was just chopped fruit and bread - horrible jam, no Marmite, no yogurt, no pastries. Very poor. Had to ask for vegan spread and plant milk. For £340 one night, it was simply terrible. Never again.

Great in general
Pros:

The hotel was comfortable and inviting… we had dinner there which was delicious

Cons:

The unexpected £50 fee for my small dog which wasn’t mentioned at all at time of booking through booking.com
After a delicious dinner the next morning cooked breakfast seemed to lack a bit of passion and flare

Pros:

We loved the "snug" room at the front of the property and attention to detail with the personalised birthday message left in the room. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Overall excellent stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to explore Rye further!

Unfortunately due to heat the worst hotel experience I have ever had (no exaggeration).
Pros:

Excellent welcome by reception staff. Decor in room pleasant. Good bed. Excellent bathroom.

Cons:

Room was in attic, and though not at all cramped the window was small. No air conditioning - not surprising in converted old building but overall a problem. As we stayed on a very hot day (28C plus) the room remained unpleasantly hot until the early hours. Fan provided was not an adequate answer to this.
For a nightly charge of £340 this was incredibly bad value.
Despite hotel acknowledging request for 2 single beds (which I have retained) it was claimed the message had not been received. Whilst I understand hotels cannot necessarily meet this kind of request it appeared it was simply ignored.
More minor points - housekeeping not great - a previous occupant's sock under chest of drawers, shirt collar stiffener in wardrobe, etc.. Whilst breakfast cooked selection extensive we prefer continental, and choice not wide.

Schlafen Sie besser im Auto
Pros:

Nichts

Cons:

Great hotel and location but breakfast has to improve
Pros:

Location fantastic and the hotel is very nice

Cons:

Breakfast was very poor for the price and the additional £50/night charge for a dog was extreme based on what you got for it. I did agree to it, so I can't or didn't complain.
