A great choice
Pros:

The staff were amazing, they arranged for me to get into the room early and and ready as I had travelled up from Berkshire as I had a funeral to get washed and ready for.
The food in the restaurant was delicious and the Caesars salad with black pudding was so good.
The gym had excellent equipment just the right stuff for a part time keep fit individual like me.
The location of the hotel is stunning and the views magnificent.

All in all a great decision to stay at the hotel.

Cons:

It was average. For the money we spent I was expecting more.
Pros:

The grounds the hotel was on and the local access to the bus stop.

Cons:

The room was far too warm for us and our dog.
No air con in the room. No fan in the room till our second day.
When we call about our dog being too warm we were told there was no notice of a dog being with us, I called the hotel prior to arriving.

Overall our relaxing night away was very expensive for what was delivered.
Pros:

Breakfast was excellent. Bar was pleasant to relax in. Beautiful grounds and a very nice conservatory

Cons:

The room we had booked was a standard room and on the hotel website it looked very nice. The room we were allocated was a small pokey room in the eaves of the hotel. Not pleasant and not a room you could sit in. We requested an upgrade and were shown the Lady Marie Suite. This was a large room, not a suite, and had an opaque window with no view. We were then shown The Kelly Suite which again is not a suite but a large room. This is a very nice room with a beautiful bathroom but we had to pay an extra £150. We had booked dinner and payed £30 pp in advance. This is ok if you want three courses or the chef's specials. As we normally only eat a main course we went for the chef's special of Plaice in a sauce. Sounded and looked lovely but it was ruined due to the amount of salt in the sauce. We decided to have cheese to finish and rid our mouth of salt but it is a very small portion for the £16 price tag.

We were well looked after, but everything I saw needs a new start.
Pros:

The Breakfast was good.

Cons:

The building and grounds are tired and the place needs an injection of cash.

It was adequate and served the purpose. The details, neatness and tidiness is just not there.

I have worked in the service industry for 47 years and worked at two high end properties.

Pros:

Property looks amazing from the outside beautiful location, food was the best thing about this place it was amazing

Cons:

Bed mattress was really hard, no mattress topper so first night was extremely uncomfortable, told reception in the morning and asked for a topper or another duvet to make it more comfortable this was done, no water in the room, and one tiny biscuit, cracked window in room and kept falling down when we tried to open it.
