Categories

Cleanliness
6
Several guests noted cleanliness issues: bathroom described as old and looking unclean, paintwork flaking in places, and an untidy gym with equipment left on the floor; these reports lower the cleanliness score.
Service
9.2
Service is frequently praised—staff repeatedly described as brilliant, friendly and welcoming. Minor service lapses (coffee station messy for meetings) noted but overall service quality is strong.
Location
9
Location and setting are repeatedly highlighted as excellent: beautiful grounds, gardens and a peaceful green setting; a key positive across reviews.
Room Quality
5.5
Rooms were often criticized: dated and tired decor, ruffled carpet, old bathrooms, windows that didn’t open properly and rooms that were unbearably hot due to no air conditioning—room quality is a notable weakness.
Amenities
7.5
Mixed amenities feedback: spa, pool, sauna rated good (sauna cramped), but the gym was poor and untidy, pool shape and pool opening-time mishaps were mentioned; overall amenities are solid but inconsistent.
Value for Money
6.8
Value is mixed: some guests felt meals (example: an overpriced, poor-quality evening meal) did not match price, while others appreciated the ambience and breakfasts—overall slightly below average for value.
Food and Beverage
8.2
Food receives generally positive comments—breakfast is praised as good with plenty of choice and the restaurant is described as lovely—though there are isolated reports of a disappointing evening meal.
Overall Experience
9.4
Overall impression is positive: many guests described the property as beautiful with excellent staff and a restful ambience and indicated they would return, despite specific issues with rooms/amenities for some stays.

Pros:

Very comfy bed, ideal location, grounds are superb if you're travelling with a dog like we were, staff were very friendly and very handy location. We are repeat guests.

Cons:

Bathroom is clean but very compact. Likely wise to go for a larger room (with hopefully a larger bathroom) with more space for the dog at night on the cooler floors.

Lovey spa break for two, I'd recommend.
Pros:

Although the block we were in looked a bit dormitory. Inside was clean and well presented. Lovey decor and facilities. Could always use a fridge for milk in the morning. The only thing missing. Spa was lovely! Clean and peaceful we had the place to ourselves Sunday afternoon! Dinner was good. Cauliflower a bit chewy but everything else was delicious. Breakfast was well presented if the sausages were nothing special.

Cons:

Nothing staff went above and beyond friendly and helpful. Thanks for making us feel welcome

Average. Not sure stay again
Pros:

Lovely grounds and old building.

Cons:

Found fried eggs white undercooked, mushrooms dry and tasteless, bacon tough, chocolate muffins no taste. Would of been nice to have smooth orange juice with no bits in.
Beef burger dry and tasteless.
Beds hard.
On arrival bed made as a double bed and not a twin as booked for.
Bathroom very tired and dated.

It could have been better but I would definitely try again. The set up of the room spoilt things.
Pros:

Lovely hotel in a great location. Staff were excellent

Cons:

I was travelling with my elderly mum and had booked a twin room. When we arrived I was told that there was only a double room available. The hotel offered to put a temp single bed in the room. This made the room very over crowded and difficult to navigate.

For the price paid I expect much better.
Pros:

Leisure facilities were good, staff friendly, good choice of breakfast. Beds were very comfy. The restaurant food was passable

Cons:

Garden wing is awful. Doesn't show up on their property map on the website - for good reason. I could cope with the outside of the building looking drab. But the rooms are not great. The bathroom door was rotten, the bathroom looked grubby, the windows were rotten. No Aircon. There was a wedding on and their was not enough staff to cope with the other customers and the wedding - the other customers were not informed on arrival that this could be the case. Because of this their bar was over run, I couldn't get the cocktail I wanted. Basically very poor planning on the managers part.
