Comfortable room - check-in not great
Pros:

Comfortable room, beautiful grounds.

Cons:

We booked, and confirmed the day before for early check-in. And the staff was not very helpful. And we did not get our request, if we knew this before - we would not have stayed over.

Classic old English hotel - lovely spot 🤩
Pros:

Very old style which suited the surroundings. Staff were fabulous. Rather expensive but food was excellent. Very comfortable bed and big room! Lovely spot

Pros:

Prachtige locatie met een uitstekend ontbijt en een goede brasserie met leuke bediening.
Mooie kamers met voldoende ruimte en een goede badkamer.

Cons:

De matras in kamer 14 is aan vervanging toe. En we hadden het fijner gevonden als de drie gereserveerde slaapkamers In dezelfde vleugel hadden gelegen.

Passing itself off as a top hotel is…to be diplomatic…misleading.
Pros:

Peaceful and remote

Cons:

Dated. And the fact that it is an old property is no excuse given the cost. Jaded. Had not had any money spent for decades.

We enjoyed a relaxing, peaceful and luxurious stay, surrounded by gorgeous scenery.
Pros:

Breakfast is lovely. The evening dinner in the Anderida Restaurant was superb - best lamb and beef that I can remember eating. Beautiful, characterful building. Superlative gardens and grounds. Extensive leisure facilities. Wonderful walking trails. Friendly, efficient staff.

Cons:

I would suggest better reading lights in the bedroom.

Gorgeous place and the most lovely staff
Pros:

Despite the place itself being absolutely gorgeous I think our highlight was how lovely and welcoming the staff is. The hotel is very high end but the service never felt too stiff or cold. Everyone was super helpful and friendly.
Pool was amazing and, probably as we went mid week, not busy at all - which was great.
Rooms are beautiful and spacious although depending on where they are located there may be a bit to walk to get there, so something to keep in mind if you have accessibility issues. Would highly recommend having a picnic high tea as we did, it was gorgeous and we found a Secret garden in the estate which was a perfect location for it.

Cons:

The tv in the room wasn't working. Given the level of the hotel and the fact that after dinner we just wanted to go back to the room to watch some tv and chill, it was a bit disappointing. We pointed this out at reception (it seems to be a signal issue), but they haven't been able to fix this.
We ate at the forest brasserie a couple times. the meals we had there and the breakfast were good but nothing mind blowing and felt a bit outdated in terms of options. Maybe the food could be improved a bit as not everyone would necessarily want to eat at the 2 AA Rosette restaurant.

Staff were excellent. Hotel location was really lovely

Cons:

We paid well over £200 for the night in this 4* hotel. In an almost empty hotel, our room was up in the eves, up five flights of stairs without a lift. It would have been easy to give us a much better and easier accessed room. Because we were so high up there was no water pressure in the hand held shower although the bath was excellent. The restaurant was shut and there was no draught beer in the brasserie. Surprised that there was no sauna or steam room in the spa. Very disappointed with our visit.
