Breakfast service is poor.
Great staff, lovely village, good price
Average breakfast! I liked they catered for gluten free food. Nice village, nice church, cafe was ok! The other pub in the village was ok and the singer was good! Blockley was a good base to explore the other towns
Bouton on the Water, Moreton in the Marsh and Winchcombe we visited and drove through pleasant countryside! Overall a pleasant interlude!
The staff were very friendly!
The rain spoiled our visit somewhat so that set the scene, no fault of the Crown! The premises were a bit tired looking and shabby!
What a gift to spend an evening in this historic town and storied inn! Room was very comfortable and interesting, as were the common rooms in the inn. We were there during the walking season, and the terraces and dining areas made for congenial conversation with fellow travelers. They staff was excellent, and did every thing they could to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. The location was also ideal as a launching point to explore this beautiful town!
The location is nice. The staff were hard working and smiled a lot . The water out of the shower was lovely and hot. The atmosphere in the bar was good, maybe due to the large group of Australians staying there?
Room 29 - the bed needs a new mattress . The drain in the shower needs looking at - the room floods when you have a five minute shower. There is no place to put shower gel etc in the shower. The toiletries provided felt industrial. The red bedroom curtains need to be rehung. The walls have cobwebs and marks of where people have splattered insects. The heater valves are dirty and grimy, you need to turn them to adjust the heating. The sink in the bathroom is very small. On the whole the hotel is dated - welcome 1990. It could do with a deep clean. The breakfast is free, perhaps they should charge and upgrade. As is, it is very basic and not very nice - at least the full English. The brown sauce is a terrible budget concoction. Baked beans were served as a soup. I appreciate that the price we paid was very reasonable, even at this price point there is massive room for improvement here. The place needs some money spent and a rethink.
Excellent location, value and friendly staff.
The Crown Hotel Cotswold is located in the heart of Blockley, It has a car park which is essential as street parking nearby is difficult. We had room 14 which was on the first floor it was suitable for our 1 night stay. The breakfast is very good, starters are buffet style, The main course is served to your table. We had dinner which was good value for the region.
The Crown Hotel Cotswold is a very old building which meant our room was small, The floors were uneven, And the decor was worn, The bed was small and uncomfortable.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Comfortable beds. Towels were of a good quality.
GF bread provided.
We had room 5 in the annex. There was a lot of condensation on the windows. Although the room was heated, the carpets and lino in the bathroom, felt cold and damp. The bathroom was really cold. Furniture needs updating. No decent size drawers. Hangers prevented the wardrobe from closing, without a fight. My brother stayed in room 8, also in the annex. His room was superior to ours; but an upgrade for us, was not possible, as there wasn't one.
Very little choice for vegetarians. Unless you like Falafel. Although there was a variety of choices for cooked breakfast there needs to be a somebody who knows how to cook it. Overcooked fried eggs and undercooked tomatoes every morning, together with dark brown mushrooms in a strange liquid substance. Continental breakfast was adequate. No plug in the bathroom for a hairdryer, which you had to ask for at reception. Mine conked out on the second day. No taxi service - public transport very limited. As "Father Brown" was being filmed at the premises, which we were not informed of until shortly before our arrival, there were cars parked left and right - which was a hinderance to traffic leaving and arriving at the hotel. That was quite an experience in itself.
Very friendly staff.
Great location.
Food good.
Reception could do with a tidy up
Location was good
One member of staff wasn’t pleasent, tipped the balance of a great experience
Karakteristiek hotel, in grappig dorpje. ideale ligging in N van Cotswolds. Aardige staf.
Ruime kamer, wel iets gedateerd.
Staff were so freindly
Nothing
Comfortable
Posizione perfetta al centro di un bellissimo paese e comodo per raggiungere gli altri villaggi. Camera semplice ma curata, tutto pulito e in ordine.
Personale gentile e disponibile.
Lovely location
Could be a bit cleaner, room right next to pub and road, so a little noisy, curtains in front of windows meant no natural light, too expensive for what it offers
There was a varied choice of breakfast and we had a fantastic curry on our final evening.
