Wonderful breakfast with excellent variety, great location in a relatively quieter location right close to busy city centre, easy for car pick up and drop off. Hotel staff were very polite and courteous. Fitness suite extremely spacious, well equipped and easy to use.
Ordinary indoor pool - need to use google translate with some occasions to communicate. Overall is ok .
Sumptuous entrance with attentive staff. All courteous and helpful as one would expect with a 5* hotel. Hotel positioned at the heart of Chengdu with the Bridge a mere 3 minutes walk.
It’s a labyrinth of a hotel and easy to get completely lost in.
We stayed in room 2019 on the Horizon floor for 5 nights - spectacular views over the city and river. The bedroom was comfortable and nicely decorated. The second room was sparse and decorated without thought or imagination. Uncomfortable sofa - cheap & cheerless!
The horizon lounge was pleasantly decorated and staff great but the food was poor. Breakfast was spartan, mid afternoon tea with beautiful little cakes & canapés that lacked any taste or flavour. 5.30 supper was once again pretty unexciting and without a modicum of imagination whether you’re Chinese or European. There must surely be a European to ask advice from? Shame as many in the group are so much better prepared and actually have made an effort.
Gym is great, hot spa, sauna and steam room also good but the towels are really very titchy especially for the larger gentleman or lady!

Frühstück war unübersichtlich und stressig
On our last day in Chengdu, we dined at Shang Palace restaurant and informed the server about the 50 US dollars (340 rmb) in hotel credit that my credit card offered. This credit was valid for restaurants, cafes, and spas. However, when I reviewed my credit card statement, I discovered that the credit had not been redeemed and that I had been charged the full amount of 370 rmb. I had to contact the hotel to request a bill review, as this was an unusual experience for me. Chengdu Shangri-La, if you’re unfamiliar with the credit card benefits, I urge you to reconsider your cooperation with credit card companies.

Morgan at the front of house was brilliant and appreciate his kind words and smile in the mornings. He has only been there for a week but shows great promise and is an asset to the hotel
