Lovely hotel but dated
Pros:

The location was brilliant. There is a about a mile walk to lakeside or you can catch a bus to Windermere. The bus stops are right outside the hotel.
The hotel is a bit dated and needs a little TLC but it has wonderful character. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The food in the bar is brilliant. I had the beef and Guiness pie and my fiance had the burger. Really good portion sizes and it was piping hot.
The room was amazing, we had a 4 poster bed, amazing views and decent size bathroom. The only downfall was that the jets in the jacuzzi bath wasnt working. The poster bed was a bit dusty and a few cobwebs and the carpet by the windows were a worn and torn but it was such a lovely room we had never stayed in 4 poster bedroom before so it was a lovely experience.
The pool and the jacuzzi was very relaxing after a day of walking.

Cons:

I felt the staff were a bit unprofessional at times. The receptionist would be eating at the desk and talking to you with her mouth full.

We had a lovely time, in the Lakes and the hotel was in a good location to allow us to explore.
Pros:

The breakfast was good and what we would have expected for the cost of the hotel.
Dining Room staff on duty on Sunday were friendly and cheerful.
The room was good
The bar man was friendly and provided good service
Bar snacks were good

Cons:

Staff on duty on Saturday were not friendly and whilst we and other residents were outside having coffee on the Saturday, closed the door, without asking when we would be coming back in, no communication at all in fact.
Another resident had to open the door to allow us to return to the dining room.
Blue cheese dressing on pear salad was no evident
Reception staff seemed a bit frazzled and were not overly helpful

Best Experience thanks to KEELY
Pros:

This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful location, however what made our stay memorable was the fantastic staff.
Being disabled and this break being one of those where, "If something can go wrong it will", keely and her team ensured that my wife & I could resolve and overcome the challenges we faced to enjoy a relaxing and comfortable break.
Would recommend this hotel and my wife and I look forward to visiting again.

Nice stay but food not as good now
Pros:

Restaurant food options have sadly declined recently , now much more like a pub than a hotel restaurant with emphasis on a fixed menu with your average pub-type meals with chips and salad being the main feature of the dishes rather than freshly cooked vegetables like it used to be .
The food itself was nicely cooked and portions good but compared to previous visits over the last 25 years it’s not the quality it was . We always enjoy the breakfasts - plenty of choice but I have to say that the water isn’t hot enough for the tea and the coffee isn’t hot enough for me either.
Garden room great for us with dogs as it accesses the garden directly . Agree with other visitors that there are areas that need some attention to update but room clean and comfy. Tea , coffee and biscuits replenished daily. Pool is now used for swimming lessons which does impact on other guests - on this occasion we didn’t use it which is the first time ever , however it didn’t spoil our stay. Alex on reception and Scott on the bar friendly and helpful and welcome you by name which is nice.
Will return as it’s our happy place to stay, but probably only on B & B as I feel that for the dishes offered we could get those in other places for a lower price. Please get a specials menu to supplement the fixed menu as the chef must be so frustrated churning out burger and chips and similar dishes which isn’t what you expect in a hotel. Great location for places to visit and walk but did feel let down with the food as things something we really did look forward to and something the owner of the hotel needs to take on board as multiple reviews mention the food

Highly recommended
Pros:

Booked this hotel through Travel Zoo and got an excellent deal on one night dinner bed and breakfast with a bottle of Prosecco. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with a large car park in an excellent location. The bedroom was well equipped but a little dated which didn’t make any difference to our overall stay, very spacious dining room, the food was good the service excellent. Nice bar and lounge area which stocked a good selection of bottled wines at very reasonable prices. Now here is where the hotel excels - the staff, every member of staff we came across were friendly, chatty and ready to help answer any questions. After arriving home I realised I had left a phone charger in the room on contacting the hotel they confirmed I had left it, running up to the bedroom whilst I held on the phone to check. I was then advised the best way to have the charger returned to me, I made an error online when requesting collection of the charger, an email to reception sorted this out for me. I have stayed in many, many Lake District Hotels with very posh bedrooms costing a lot more per night than The Newby Bridge Hotel but you do not get the friendly, chatty helpful staff.

Lovely weekend break
Pros:

The location was perfect as it was a base while running in The Lap. A very relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff and great food options. The room and bed were comfy and the pool area was a bonus. The missus was happy as she only had to nip out the bar Saturday evening as I staggered passed at the 40 mile point of the race!! Only issue was the room was close to the bar area which didn't help with my early night before race day but next time I'll request a quieter room.

A great location with friendly staff
Pros:

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff there. Keely arranged for me to check into my room early without any issue which was really helpful for me. The room was clean and a good size. The breakfast was nice, my only comment would be it would be nice to have fresh coffee and tea bought to the table. It’s a great location.
