Very picturesque hotel that was clean throughout.
Breakfast was outstanding
Pool and gym where very clean
Gardens where beautiful and very well maintained
Beds where very comfortable
The place was a "bit" dated...
Nice staff, accommodating with my parents needs (room location etc), lovely rear glass area and views.
But run down and was not like the pictures on booking.com
The location was great and exactly what we had hoped for.
There was a power cut on the 21st, which was the only full day of our stay. We were told there was nothing the hotel could do and were simply advised to take a trip out for the day. No complimentary drinks, discount on the room, refund, or any other gesture of goodwill was offered, despite the fact that we were unable to use any of the spa facilities, the pool, or effectively remain in the hotel for the day.
There were also safety concerns during the power outage. The hotel had no torches or alternative lighting available, and our room was located upstairs, meaning we had to navigate dark stairways and corridors without adequate lighting.
Another disappointment was that the hotel was undergoing refurbishment, something we were not informed about before arrival. As a result, the hotel looked very old and tired when we arrived, which was not what we expected. The hotel also failed to inform arriving guests about the power cut in advance, meaning people were still turning up to check in only to be told upon arrival that there was no power.
The shower in our room did not work properly and was very stop-start, making it difficult to use comfortably.
The staff were friendly enough; however, they frequently spoke to each other in their own language, even when standing in front of guests. Most of the staff appeared to be Eastern European.
Booking.com advertised the hotel as a 4-star property, but in reality it was only passable as a 3-star hotel. In fact, the hotel itself clearly displayed a 3-star rating on the wall.
The breakfast was perfectly fine, but the rest of the meals we had during our stay were average and did not stand out in any way.
Overall, the power outage, lack of communication, absence of compensation, refurbishment work, and discrepancies between the advertised and actual standard of the hotel made for a disappointing experience.
Location Facilities Food and Drink
Jacuzzi bath not working
quiet location and swimming pool
very noisy with drunk guests swearing most nights
Beautiful location and grounds
Reception team helpful with noisy guests.
Sharon the beauty therapist was incredible
Had to go looking for staff at times....not a full spa but advertised as so
Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was really good at the hotel.
Good location and ample parking. Child friendly. Reasonably priced for the location.
It seemed understaffed, there was never anyone present when needed including reception being manned. Housekeeping came too late everyday. 4pm or after is unacceptable and we had to ask for our room to be refreshed one day and turn It down due to the time of day on another.
The hotel and surrounding area
The lack of running water on both mornings of our stay
Really cosy country hotel
Our room was very small
Location was stunning
A little tired and our room was noisy in the corridor at times, had to ask some guests to be quiet as we were trying to sleep
Location was good close to windermere
The walls are so thin could literally hear the room next door turning a switch on. Lots of noise in the night, showers are like caravan showers, very old fashioned
It’s was ok
Our room 24 was noisy from the loft tank filling up
Bit shabby
We had a fire alarm about 1:30pm
It was a false alarm but not a great fire drill, very disorganised
