Perfect location, easy few minutes walk into Kendal or drive further into the Lake District
Pros:

Fantastic location, welcoming and friendly staff. Parking on site (height limit to car park of 2 metres). Food in the restaurant was fantastic.

Cons:

Rooms are tired and need upgrading. Wooden doors in the bathroom are rotting at the bottom and the walls are chipped and need repainting.
Changed rooms as first room had a broken mattress but the staff were very helpful in rectifying the situation.

Great location with friendly staff
Pros:

Great location with lovely staff. Sharon was especially helpful when we had some lost property to have posted out to us. Very friendly and professional.

Cons:

The hotel itself is well laid out, but from an aesthetic point of view, could do with some TLC. Tired paintwork and some worn out fixtures and fittings, but in such an old building I appreciate the maintenance is already high. None of these points affected our level of comfort. Breakfast was ok, but the addition of some barista coffee in the morning would be welcome.

Golf Society Trip
Pros:

The reception staff were lovely and very accommodating check in was pretty much sorted on arrival to make it a very smooth experience for 20 people.

The pool and sauna are fantastic some of the guests have said they would like to return with their families.

We didn't eat within the hotel but had a few drinks in the bar which again was a lovely comfortable setting.

Cons:

Rooms slightly small rooms. Would have preferred an option for twin rooms but we knew what we were booking so no issues.

Not great. Bug on the bed
Pros:

Location was great, free car parking was good

Cons:

Room was fine. Needed a deep clean which was fine until a bug crawl out from behind the mattress at the headboard to say hello and then ran back when I jumped up so couldn’t get a photo. I google what it was based on the shape, which stated it was an adult bed bug. I could get out of there quick enough

Pros:

The location of the hotel was very nice, set next to the river and a short walk into the town center. There was also free covered parking, which was very helpful albeit quite badly sign posted.

Breakfast was also fine.

Cons:

We stayed two nights either side of a friends wedding, Thursday and Saturday, and both rooms where rather scruffy having seen their best days many years ago. The first room had a horrible smell even after sleeping with the window open the entire evening. This room was also very tatty with stained lampshades, big chips to the plaster / paint.

The second room didn't smell which was a great thing. But the bathroom was not clean, with pink slime on much of the grouting, the bathroom cabinet was falling apart with the coating falling off. One of the lampshades was barely hanging on the wall.

I'm sure once upon a time this was a nice hotel, but that was quite some time ago.

Great location for a short stay in town
Pros:

Great location, spacious room, river view

Cons:

Rooms could be updated. Other guests were very noisy from 2am-3.30am - a group of men came back in the early hours shouting, banging, slamming doors which kept us awake.

Splendid hotel on the edge of the Lake District!
Pros:

Great location right next to the river and a few minutes walk into town. Excellent staff, lovely full English breakfast buffet!

Great weekend with friends and dogs
Pros:

Nice rooms - had a good view over the river, clean
Staff were very professional but friendly and very helpful
Location, it was within walking distance of the centre of Kendal
Dog friendly
Lovely breakfast

Cons:

The car park - there is no way from the car park to the hotel except going out and up the street and I had to carry a suitcase, dogs bag and bed along the street to the hotel
