Disappointing stay and an even worse response from management
My room (08) was on an upper floor with no lift available. Staff did not offer meaningful help with luggage unless I repeatedly asked, and even then the assistance was minimal.
The Wi‑Fi was unstable, and the room had a strong unpleasant smell—like old pipes and mould.
After experiencing these issues, I asked a male staff member if I could change rooms. He said the hotel was fully booked. Since I could not stay comfortably, I booked another hotel. He told me I might be able to receive a refund, but that the manager was unavailable and I should return the following morning.
The next day, I received a partial refund of €110 out of €140. Unfortunately, the way it was handled was very unprofessional. The manager and another staff member spoke to me while eating lunch and repeatedly emphasised how “considerate” they were for giving me a refund. They said the issues were “fixable,” told me I should be grateful for the refund, and asked me not to write a “shitty review” — their exact words — because the hotel is a women-run small business.
They continued making excuses and discussing unrelated things (when I stayed at 5 star hotels (?) after the refund had been processed. When I asked whether the procedure was finished so I could leave, they said yes; as I left, I heard an audible “ugh.”
A partial refund does not erase the poor room conditions or the way I was treated. This review is not exaggerated—it reflects exactly what happened.

Die Sauberkeit war eher mäßig. Es wurde nur oberflächlich gereinigt. Die Bar im Eingangsbereich lud nicht zum Verweilen ein ( Klimaanlage, nur alkoholfreie Getränke und "Durchgangsverkehr"). Die Zimmer waren sehr hellhörig. Dementsprechend wurde von jedem Gast jeder Schritt wahrgenommen.
Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Sofortige Hilfe, als wir die Zimmerkarte verloren hatten. Hotel recht modern und großzügig gestaltet. Vernünftige drei Betten im Familienzimmer. Ordentliche Kofferablagen im Zimmer. Sehr ruhig nach hinten raus. Innenhof mit Kickertisch (kostenlos), zwei Liegen, Schirmen und Sitzmöbeln. Fitnessraum haben wir nicht ausprobiert. Kostenlose Gepäckaufbewahrung. Gutes Frühstück. Vis-à-vis zum Bahnhof Brüssel-Süd (Midi), daher bei Anreise aus Deutschland und bei Weiterfahrt mit dem Eurostar nach London super gut zu erreichen. Das Stadtzentrum ist auch zu Fuß in 20 Minuten zu erreichen, ansonsten per Metro etc. Direkte Anbindung per Metro zum Atomium und Mini-Europe. Toller Familienausflug. Grand Place in der Innenstadt sehr sehenswert und sehr lebendig. Neben dem Hotel gibt es Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurants.
Etwas schmuddelige Gegend um den Bahnhof. Allgemein werden Müllsäcke wohl länger auf der Straße gelagert, bis sie entsorgt werden. Kaum Ablagen im Bad, aber ein paar Handtuchhaken und -halter vorhanden. Bad wirkt recht edel. Seifenspender vorhanden.
Im Zimmer nur Kleiderstange, kein Schrank, war für Kurzaufenthalt ok.

The room was clean and spacious. The amenities were a nice touch (there's a gym, you have a mini fridge in the room, iron and ironing board that you can pick up from the hallway). There's a cafe in the lobby, if you want to have something to eat or drink. You can also store your luggage for free at the hotel if you arrive to early or leave later.
It's like the reception staff doesn't communicate with each other. One staff member told us we could buy drinks from the reception whenever we want, another told us we can only get them from the vending machine (which was coin-only). One member told us that everything was paid off (which it was), another one made us pay the city tax (although it had been paid off through booking.com). Shortly after checking out, we were billed the amount once again. It was reverted after I messaged, called and emailed the hotel, but I wasn't happy that I had 1044 euro blocked for 5 days.
