Karma Salford Hall Hotel

This is worse than a travel lodge. We have had a four night stay and whilst looking at previous reviews we found the rooms poor and there is clearly a two tier system for existing members and those not signed up. At the time of writing locals have taken over the bars and walking over furniture and preventing gusts from getting any space in the bar. To be frank it’s yobbish behaviour. The rooms have poor facilities. Water is low pressure, no dressing tables or mirrors in the bedroom, bath is a death trap with no mat in the shower nor grab rail. I fell yesterday getting out of the bath and if an elderly person was here I would be worried. Pricing at the bar is inconsistent and needs to be checked. Advertised as a place looking to get residents to sign up for an international chain this simply doesn’t present the right image with kids running g around in an evening, rooms inadequate and facilities very poor. The breakfast is unacceptable and sparse. Speaking to an existing member he advised he wouldn’t join now as the quality has dropped. Avoid this place it is awful.

We booked a table for lunch for us and two friends at the Karma Salford Hall. When we arrived the place was practically deserted; we were shown to a table and ordered drinks. When they came we were about to order our food when the server asked us if we had the Subito app. We said no, did we have to? Yes, she said , because we couldn't order without it! I asked if I could just download it, and she said that all of us had to download it! I said this was absolutely ludicrous, and that we were not told when booking that this was a requirement. She said it was a relatively new thing, and they had had a lot of complaints, and even abuse about it! She said we could just pay for the drinks if we didn't want to continue with the app, at which point I said that under the circumstances the drinks should be comped. We said that we would leave and go elsewhere for lunch, at which she said that they would comp the drinks, and that we could just finish our drinks if we wished to. We drank half of them and left. The staff were extremely apologetic, but I wonder how many customers Karma are losing because of this stupid policy? We will never be back!

We have just returned from a wonderful five-night stay at Karma Salford Hall during the recent warm weather & we left feeling relaxed, refreshed & already looking forward to returning.

Before anyone rushes to criticise the lack of air conditioning, it's worth remembering exactly what Salford Hall is. It's a beautiful Grade I listed Tudor building with hundreds of years of history. You simply can't expect it to have all the conveniences of a modern hotel without losing the very character that makes it so special. Instead, embrace the history, enjoy the atmosphere and appreciate what an incredible place it is.

What really makes Salford Hall, though, is the people.

Lizzie leads a fantastic team who genuinely seem to care about every guest. Sam & Zeki on Reception are always welcoming & helpful, Joe & the other staff behind the bar keeps everything running with a smile, Andi quietly keeps the whole place looking its best & Cheryl at breakfast somehow manages every weird & wonderful request without ever losing her cheerful manner. There are so many other members of the team who deserve a mention too – everyone we met was friendly, professional & eager to help.

We ate in the hotel twice (there are at least 3 fantastic pubs within a 5 mile radius) . The barbecue was excellent quality & certainly value for money, while the Sunday roast was simply outstanding. The roast beef was quite possibly some of the best I have ever tasted. As Karma members we also received 25% off our food bill, which made the experience even better value.

Could I find the odd niggle? Of course I could. Every hotel has them. But I'd much rather take a glass-half-full approach & judge somewhere on the overall experience rather than searching for faults.

For us, Salford Hall isn't just about the building or the food – it's about how the staff make you feel. They turned a five-day break into a memorable holiday & for that they deserve enormous credit.

A beautiful old period chalet dating back to 1602 with a lot of history.
We booked for 7 days in the main building in a superior double room and had higher expectations to what was being delivered.
Good points:
- coffee machine with pods and milk sachets provided each day, as well as a glass bottle of tap water.
- Continental breakfast provided each day, staff were very friendly and helpful.
- nice bedding and fluffy towels and bath robes in the room.
- expensive wine £45 bottle in wardrobe and soft drink in the little fridge, but no wine glasses were provided. Wine too expensive in my opinion, £56 wine in dining room also available.
BUT …. Basic services were just not being provided.
- drain blocked in shower: got fixed.
- warm water in shower: NOT in evenings, then even at 7 am hot water was used up, not exactly nice on hot days.
- awkward shower doors, no hand rails
- no ventilation in the room: ONE tiny window could be opened, admittedly two table top fans were in the wardrobe for use, but we did not use them.
- underneath our one and only tiny window (room 11) staff were smoking and tables/ashtrays are positioned. Not ideal!
- vacuuming of room: I think once a week only ie not during our stay, or minimal.

All in all although it is a beautiful old building in this lovely area in the Cotswolds, I think service could have been better.

We recently celebrated our ruby wedding anniversary at karma Salford hall and the staff who helped organise everything for us were extremely helpful and efficient. The party was lovely, food was excellent and everyone had a great time. Guests who stayed at the hotel said they had nice rooms and the breakfast was also very good. Would definitely recommend.

My family and I had a lovely meal and drinks at the Karma hotel. The food was amazing there, there was a few different menus to choose from my partner had Indian food and I had pizza. My daughter had chicken. We made the most of 50 per cent of drinks during happy hour and used the garden that had toys for children and beautiful seating area.
The staff where really helpful and advised me on wines.

Charming hotel with excellent meals. Great to relax. Quaint gym for mild workout. Staff exceptional. Our trip was made special by the amazing help from Aindi who ensured our food allergies were adhered to. He was happy, professional and friendly and always working hard late into the night to accommodate us. And superhuman strengthstrengrh carrying both suitcases upstairs. Aindi and all the staff made our holiday exceptional. Highly recommended.

Lovely cosy place to stay. Great meals, bar, comfy bed, great friendly staff & meet & greet

As Karma members we use this hotel as our "Go to" place for a UK short break. Bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable with crisp white sheets and huge fluffy white towels. We love its` historic atmosphere and quintessential Englishness. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The cheese and wine evening was fun and an opportunity to share travel stories with other members. Enjoyed excellent meals in the dining room with something for everyone on the menu. It `s located close to lots of interesting places to visit so much better if you have a car. Special thanks to the team of gardeners who keep the grounds pretty. Just one thing ......A previous guest has broken the record player and we were disappointed we couldn`t play your vinyl LPs while we relaxed in the games room/ library. Great choice of books by the way.

We Had the most fabulous stay the hotel is very comfy and authentically decorated had a great atmosphere and the ideal location to explore the Cotswolds and Stratford .Our Room was very clean & comfy with a very cozy bed . Sam on reception and Lizzi the G.M. were amazing and very friendly . Nothing was too much trouble . The food in the restaurant was lovely & Grace in the restaurant was very professional and knowledgeable of the local area . This hotel is amazing value for money and we had a wonderful time . Will be back for sure . Thanks again to the friendly staff .

We booked this hotel as part of the Karma experience and were asked to attend a 1 hour presentation. There was no pressure during the presentation and it was interesting but didn’t suit our lifestyle.

The hotel itself has a great deal of character and our room was charming, comfortable and clean. All of the hotel staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

The only negative for us was the coffee machine should be replaced as our drinks were never hot just warm. All in all great value for money and the garden is particularly nice to sit in if the suns out.

I stayed at this hotel as part of a Karma Hotel Experience which I was offered at a reduced price on the condition that I attended a 1 hour presentation with Karma. Before I arrived I was concerned that there would be a lot of pressure on me to buy something from Karma, however all the staff were very friendly and relaxed. The 1 hour presentation was quite interesting and Alex who gave the presentation was really nice and made it enjoyable. The deals that were offered did not suit me and my partner so we declined to take it any further, but the staff did not put any pressure on us and carried on being friendly. I would like to thank Karma for letting us stay at such a nice hotel so cheaply.

Andi makes the best Mojitos! Highly recommended!

We stayed here recently for 3 nights & liked it a lot. Our "Anne Boleyn" room was quiet, clean & comfortable. The breakfast was excellent & the staff were wonderful, especially Aindi & Gracie. The Sunday Lunch was a bit disappointing, however other restaurant food was good, especially the curries. Happy Hour in the bar, 6.00pm - 7.00pm was most welcome. Lots to recommend & great value.

Wonderful Tudor country house hotel situated near Evesham and Stratford upon Avon with excellent restaurant and pub . The rooms are tastefully decorated and spacious and the grounds are well kept . There is a lovely beer garden and gardens with a tennis court and a gym on site. The conservatory and bar are dog friendly and we stayed in a dog friendly room in the old stable block . There is free parking and a marquee and elegant dining room. The breakfast is very good and the staff are very friendly and professional . The Karma hotels rock and they offer a membership and holiday ownership club . It is a very historic and charming rural retreat

We stayed at Karma Salford hall and the staff was friendly and courteous. Would mention Zeki from reception who really made our stay comfortable. As promised by Zeki , our anniversary was truly made special in the Restaurant.
A couple of suggestions though
Room service is essential which was lacking and Quality of Indian food needs special attention as in Goa or Bali it is very good.

This was a beautiful old mansion hotel where the staff went out of their way to meet our every need.
The location was perfect for long country walks and lazy afternoons in quiet country pubs.

Each evening we and our dog settled down in front of one of the open fires and read while enjoying a glass or two of wine.

The ambience of the whole place was just perfect. A place loaded with history. Built centuries ago and brought into modern times in a complementary way. Four poster bed was a bonus.
Food was fabulous, especially the fish.
Curries were also really good.
Breakfast was huge if you had the full cooked and looked great, I went for continental, varied and very good.

Hotel is listed and has not been properly maintained. Lots of simple faults but no one resolving them. It needs some loving and it could be a great hotel again.
We had a room opposite the main house that was really a basic traveloge style. Clean and simply a bed and bathroom. Heating temperamental wall papered but areas missing and floor tiles in bathroom repaired with non matching tiles??
Food and drink in main hall good. Bar has nice atmosphere.
The presentation we attended related to a version of time share and depending on your level of interest they wheel out various bonus attraction. We were not interested.
Overall nice few days away in the Cotswolds but cannot say we will rush to return.

What a wonderful place! We had the most wonderful 4 night stay at Karma Salford. So inviting to say the least. There was no reason to leave the resort, everything is provided right there, including great company, a beautiful room and plentiful daily special events. Spending the last few days of 2025 and the start of 2026 was the best way to celebrate. Cameron and Lizzie were outstanding hosts, welcoming and helpful every minute. When our stay was done, I felt like I was leaving long time friends. I hope our paths cross again someday! Cheets from Canada.
