115 The Strand Hotel by NEU Collective

I rarely do reviews but I want to spare another family the experience we have just had.

The room was the worst room we have ever stayed in. Dark, dingy, no natural light and a so-called balcony that looked on to a dirty & very smelly internal small area. We felt we were in a prison room and it was actually quite a depressing environment to spend 4 days in. Meant to be a hotel room or suite.. just hideous & could not be described as either!
Insects in the bathroom, noisy corridor & pleasant but unhelpful staff that were not in any way interested or proactive when we voiced our dissatisfaction on the day we arrived after seeing the room. They seemed to know instantly what we were talking but were in no way helpful or proactive to resolve anything.
The breakfast was also awful, orange juice was like watery cheap disgusting cordial.. eggs & bacon disgusting & inedible…even the pastries were dry and burnt. Staff looked stressed and overwhelmed.
The beach club was ok but very crowded & most of the beds in the lower area next to the pool were unavailable to Strand guests, reserved for guest of other hotels.
Tbh this stay is the last we will be booking through booking .com as I have completely lost trust & faith after our last few times trips have been sub standard. This is by far the worst experience so far but the others have not been much better.
I work in the travel industry and will be spreading the word.

We had spacious sea view room. Very convenient for exploring Malta and specifically Valetta!

This was probably the worst hotel I have stayed at during the last five or six years of travelling across the EU.

I paid around EUR 160 per night, with the total cost for six nights exceeding EUR 1,000 due to exchange rate fluctuations. At this price level, I expected significantly higher standards.

The room and its equipment were very old, worn out, and generally unpleasant. There were no power adapters available, even though Malta uses a different type of electrical socket from most continental European countries. I believe a hotel hosting international guests should at least provide adapters upon request. Instead, after arriving around 8:00 p.m., I had to search nearby shops for one.

The room was generally tidy, but it was obvious that proper deep cleaning had not been done for a long time. The bathroom equipment was very worn and in poor condition. The shower was dirty, some doors were broken, and the air-conditioning units were visibly dirty and produced a very unpleasant smell when switched on.

The location was another major problem. The hotel is situated only a few metres from a very busy main road, so the noise is constant, including at night. Sleeping was extremely difficult. Keeping the balcony door open was not an option because of the traffic noise, while using the air conditioning was also unpleasant because of the smell.

Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially considering the price. The condition of the room, cleanliness issues, poor maintenance, noise, and uncomfortable air conditioning made the stay far below what I would expect from a hotel charging around EUR 160 per night.

Snídaně teda slabší, čekala bych větší výběr a lepší kvalitu jídla, ale bylo to ok. V hotelu funguje travel agent firmy I see Malta, ale nakonec jsme jeli na výlety s jinou společností, protože jsem se na I see malta dočetla dost špatné recenze.
