Jonic Hotel Mazzarò

Como único punto negativo, el baño desprendía un olor constante que resultaba un poco desagradable; por las mañanas nos despertábamos con un olor fuerte si dejábamos la puerta abierta, y también al entrar y salir de la habitación. No sabíamos de dónde provenía, pero es el único detalle que desmereció un poco la experiencia.

¡Aun así, gracias, Hotel Jonic! Mi compañera y yo hemos disfrutado muchísimo de este viaje y de nuestra estancia.

Room and shower were small. Would pick a room with a balcony next time.

Unfortunately, there were several aspects of our stay that were disappointing.

First of all, we were surprised by the significant difference in prices in Taormina compared with the north-western part of Sicily. We understand that prices can vary, but we felt that some of the additional costs should have been communicated much more clearly.

The hotel does not have its own parking. We only found out about this after receiving a message from the hotel, after the booking had already been paid. We were then given a small note explaining that we could park in a private parking area behind the cable car for €27 until 10 a.m. the following day, or use the cable car parking at €6 per hour. For us, this was an important piece of information that should have been clearly communicated before or at the time of booking.

During our stay, we experienced three different staff shifts. At check-in, the staff member seemed surprised that we were not aware of the prices in Taormina, which we found rather unpleasant and unhelpful.

Another issue was the payment. Money was taken from our account twice: once as a pre-authorisation through Booking.com and again during our stay. This was uncomfortable because the amount could have been temporarily unavailable in our account. When we asked about this at check-out, instead of receiving an explanation from the hotel, the employee told us that we should ask our bank and not the hotel. The situation then became quite unpleasant, as the employee started getting irritated and repeatedly told us goodbye and that we should leave.

Overall, while we really appreciated the cleanliness of the room, the beautiful beach nearby and the wonderful view, we were disappointed by the lack of transparency regarding parking and payments, as well as by the way our concerns were handled by the staff.
