We booked a suite at Casa Santo Domingo for our wedding weekend, and many of our guests stayed there as well. While the property is beautiful, the way we were treated completely overshadowed it.
One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was to take getting-ready photos with our wedding party on the property before the ceremony. On the morning of our wedding, a few groomsmen came to our suite to finish getting ready. Within minutes, security arrived and told everyone except me they had to leave, forcing several of them to finish getting dressed in the hotel’s common areas.
When our photographer arrived, they were denied entry because they had not been “cleared” to photograph on the property. We were never informed of this policy beforehand, despite booking the hotel specifically for this purpose. It completely ruined our getting-ready photos.
To make matters worse, we were later told we would lose our security deposit because security had been called to our room, the very situation they created.
Casa Santo Domingo may be a beautiful property, but the guest experience was incredibly disappointing.
If you’re planning a wedding or special occasion, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. There are plenty of hotels in Antigua that provide much better hospitality and value.

Nada
Buffet breakfast is good but it’s overly distributed in different rooms and you have to walk a lot to get your food, it’s a hassle. Service personnel is excellent though.
Totally overrated and overpriced property. We had 3 standard rooms that were dated and needed a fresh coat of paint. Architectural it is disgusting that all bathrooms have an open ventilation window to the hall, which stank and had a terrible poo smell.
Small museums are boring to ok.
We used the spa facilities, which again are also dated and truly low standard.
I’m happy we just stayed one night here and payed a third of the price at another hotel (Hotel Casa Noble) for the rest of our stay in Antigua that felt more authentic and cozier, the rooms were definitely nicer and better value for the money.
El mejor alojamiento de Antigua Guatemala.
Beautiful setting among the ruins of a historic monastery, surrounded by lush greenery. The service was excellent from start to finish. We were on our honeymoon and were touched by the thoughtful complimentary gestures from the moment we arrived. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the breakfast featured a wonderful selection of local specialties.
Nothing.
Very beautiful and great hotel
