The best part of this hotel is the staff. We got a text each day asking if there was anything we needed, and they were extremely helpful at the front desk, attending to the little details. Holly, who checked us out, showed particular enthusiasm and humor, and she gave each person checking out a "fun fact of the day". It's great to see people enjoying their jobs. The coffee stayed hot all day, the fitness center was clean, and the breakfast was adequate. The hotel is located right across the street from the Heinz History Center. We stayed for two nights to attend Pirates games; the ballpark is about a 20-minute walk and a 5-minute drive from the hotel. The room was fine. Housekeeping only comes every other day unless you ask, but they make that clear with a sign in the bathroom. Parking is free, which is rare for a downtown hotel. We would definitely stay there again.
The food was good and nice variety!
I believe that ALL hotels are over priced! Would do things like this more often if not as expensive!! It saddens me😔
Excellent séjour. Chambre immense, confortable.
Piscine et place de parking. Hotel a quelques minutes a pied du centre ville. Petit déjeuner bon.
Check in was courteous and professional. When we got to the room I noticed dry feces on the toilet seat hinges. An unpleasant sight. So I call the front desk and they sent someone up to clean it. He spayed some cleaner and wiped around the hinges. But after he left I saw that it had not been properly cleaned
We used the elevator 6 times in our overnight stay. If it happened once I would think it a fluke. However each time we were getting on or off a hotel employee rush ahead of us. Frankly I’ve never experienced this discourtesy in a hotel in all my 72 years. When this unprofessional if not rude behavior occurred each time I perceive it as not merely poor behavior on the part of the employees but much more the poor management. At $400+ for one night I would have expected more. We booked here because of positive reviews. We will never return here because of the unprofessionalism and dirty toilets. If the toilets were dirty, what else???
The location and parking
The pillows were the only thing I can think of
This is an excellent hotel in an excellent location. We flew in to Pittsburgh in the late morning, picked up our car and stopped at the hotel prior to checking in. The Heinz museum is immediately across the street and we toured that prior to check in. Parking is free and the staff was extremely helpful in terms of professional and friendly. We were only staying one night and are Diamond members with Hilton. This hotel will not disappoint you. Management has done an excellent job of assembling and excellent team. If you want to stay downtown Pittsburg this would be the place I would stay. On a second note, don't forget to tip housekeeping as they do an over the top job.
After a long road trip visiting colleges, the hotel was a welcome respite. We were happy here at the end of Covid and I was worried that over the last 5 years, service may have suffered. Nope; it only improved. Great beds, AC, and showers. We slept too well; it was tough to get up to head home. One note, housekeeping is not everyday so ask the front desk about that on check in. Breakfast waffles were outstanding. And yes, the room was quiet. They even have streaming.
My husband and I stayed at the Smallman St. downtown hotel from July 15-July 19, 2026. We had a wonderful experience, service was prompt and all staff were pleasant and efficient. I’d to give a special shout out to housekeeper Tré, front desk receptionist ls Izzy and Holly and ESPECIALLY shift supervisor Mary Zammiee, so very cordial and helpful! The A-V workers were also very helpful. There was only one problem which we detected on Sunday morning. There was a rainstorm on Saturday and the window to the left of the TV apparently had an area along the right side where water came in. We didn’t notice that the carpet below the window was soaked until we made up the pullout couch. We notified Mary when we checked out. Otherwise, our stay was wonderful and we recommend you highly, especially because of the location.
Friendly, helpful staff—customer service was exceptional. Big, clean room, nice breakfast, washer & dryer, and a parking lot!
Nothing to change.
Mary at the front desk was a breath of fresh air… literally. There was so much smoke in the air and we had a problem with our room, there was a horribly musty, mildew smell that hit you as soon as we opened the door; it made the night unbearable. Mary rectified the situation, she was so apologetic, kind and professional. Thanks to Mary we had a great time enjoying our time at my family reunion in my native Pittsburgh! Thank you Mary for a job well done! Blessings!
Location was great
We were back in our hometown for a family reunion. We had never stayed downtown before but wanted to see a little of the city during our stay.
We were very pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we received from James McKelvia, night desk manager! James was helpful and accommodating during our entire stay. My husband recently had hip replacement surgery and getting around was trying. But James was always looking out for both of us and always with a smile. James is extremely patient and knowledgeable with a great disposition. Hampton Inn is lucky to have him as a representative. He definitely elevated our stay not only in the hotel but our entire trip. Thanks again James!! The Contardi’s
we enjoyed our one nite stay at this hotel...Rachel at desk was very friendly and welcoming....being Diamond with Hilton, our room was upgraded, and a beautiful plate of cookies, apple cider, snacks with card celebrating our 46th anniversary...That was the most sincere sweet sentiment/card we could ever imagine from a hotel...Mary, thank you for your kindness....I cannot say enough about the room, treats, staff, and our total stay....this Hampton inn has been the best Hampton INN we've ever stayed at. this hotel is a must, priced terrific, parking great, location across the Heinz History Museum, which we all went...Just a perfect location......thank you all again for all your friendliness, it really makes this hotel SHINE!!!!! Kudo's to All!!! Plus, an extra thanks to Rachel & Mary, you totally made our stay and started our journey out with AAAAA+++++. Thank you both again.... :) :) :) :)
Beautiful location, large bedroom and bathroom facilities. Liked the jacuzzi and fitness suite, tea and coffee and facilities in reception. Liked the meticulous and helpful receptionist, Holly, who couldnt do enough for us. Breakfast good.
