Avoid - I have been coming here for years - it has never let me down until this weekend, when my mother fell down an unlit staircase with no handrail to hold on to for support. The management staff were inexperienced and not equipped to deal with such a severe incident. They offered us approx £30 in free food- a terrible approach for an apology when my mother had to spend more than half the trip in hospital and now has a month or more of recovery ahead of her. Awful experience, terrible management and not what you’d expect from such a beautiful place on paper.
Dirty run down not what the online pictures show
Good food, beautiful grounds, eye catching decor/design, charming location
Aspects of the room felt dated, cheap. Didn’t get a feeling of luxury, and given the price point would’ve expected a higher caliber experience. The pool party, while fun, conflicted with overall experience (given it was a lot of young 20 something’s getting drunk) felt more like a night in Ibiza than a countryside retreat.
We needed a UK break as my husband can’t fly or drive at the moment. The location is stunning, it’s a quirky art deco decorated place we particularly wanted to go somewhere with an outdoor pool in this heatwave.
They obviously can’t install air con it being a listed building but we’d have appreciated a portable air con unit which we saw in another room. The fan we had got us through very warm nights though. The bar man for our last two days (South African) spent more time away from his bar than in it and wouldn’t provide the drinks or service his predecessor did the day before which was exceptional. We enjoyed the food for the BBQ evening but would’ve preferred an informal bbq on the lawn than a formal sit down affair. We noted our wedding anniversary on our booking. It was only when I reminded someone we got any fuss at all. Nothing in the room etc..
Venue, pool, garden.
One of our 4 bathrooms was listed and apparently why it had dodgy taps and rusty bath plug etc
Exceptional design and serene surroundings. Beautiful getaway spot for all the family.
I wish restaurant remained open a bit longer in the evening. Other than that it was a memorable stay.
Everything
Uređenje okoliša i lokacija
Sobe nemaju klimu izrazito je vruće i po danu i po noći, usluga čišćenja je loša više puta morali smo zatfažit čišćenje sobe u popodnevnim satima, plahte i jastučnice nisu nam mjenjani 6 dana.
Loved the spa
Indoor pool would benefit from a handrail down the access steps, room needs seating and a mirror for drying hair and make up
Amazing grounds and stunning estate
Things were over priced - charges were what I’d expect from a five star not four.
Being charged for bath salts with a bat tub in your room is one example!!
The venue is magnificent. The staff are excellent.
A la carte breakfast service was a bit sluggish, but great when it arrived.
