This place was delightful and quaint. We loved it!! The staff were so kind and attentive! Loved the overall atmosphere, and the restaurant food was delicious! The boat dock was super convenient for diving and water taxis.
Location
We had an amazing stay at Las Rocas Resort. The location is brilliant — right next to West Bay yet just far enough to enjoy real peace and quiet. It made for the perfect home base to explore Roatan without the tourist crowds always around you.
La Trattoria di Piero deserves special praise for its food and drinks. From delicious meals to creative cocktails, every dining experience was memorable. The vibe was relaxed and friendly — perfect for evenings after snorkeling or diving.
Speaking of diving, the dive center at the resort was wonderfully convenient and easy to work with, helping make logistics simple and stress-free.
We also want to highlight our divemaster Aaron Gauthier for his energy, humor, and professionalism. He was always attentive, helpful, and made our stay even more enjoyable.
For comfort, location, food, and service — Las Rocas deserves top marks. Highly recommended!
Las Rocas Resort is truly a lush jungle oasis with a warm, family-like atmosphere and the most peaceful, relaxed vibes. From the moment we arrived, everything felt effortless and welcoming. Communication before arrival was excellent, and the airport pickup made getting there completely stress-free.
Check-in took no more than two minutes, and we were quickly settled into our cozy, rustic bungalow. The accommodations were simple yet incredibly comfortable, with daily housekeeping that kept everything spotless. The staff were genuinely friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The only small improvement I’d suggest would be upgrading the pillows—but honestly, it didn’t affect our sleep at all.
The setting is absolutely magical—oceanfront views with some of the best sunsets you’ll ever see. It’s incredibly charming, the kind of place that instantly captures your heart and makes you want to return.
The food was consistently delicious and very reasonably priced. Breakfast, which was included, was always varied and fresh, something we looked forward to every morning. Winston at the bar made each day brighter, greeting guests with a big smile and great music to start the day. Happy hour was always a fun way to unwind after time at the beach.
The main beach is just a short, easy walk away. It’s perfect because you can enjoy the energy there, then retreat back to the resort for peace, quiet, and those laid-back island vibes. The pool is small but super clean and perfect for cooling off.
We met so many wonderful people during our stay, and the whole place felt very safe—even for solo travelers. Overall, it was an amazing vacation. Las Rocas is one of those rare places that feels special from the moment you arrive. It truly took my heart, and I will absolutely be back.
My wife and I just spent a week at Las Rocas. We purchased a one week and ten dive lodging/SCUBA package. The resort was perfect for us. It’s small, quiet, clean, and perfectly situated in the Goldilocks zone of West Bay. In other words, it’s close enough to walk to all the hubbub, yet distant enough to be out of said hubbub. The staff was amazing. Everyone there gave us great service and did it with a great attitude.
Here’s a summary:
1) THE RESTAURANT IS INCREDIBLE! Seriously. It was the best place we found in West Bay or West End. I liked the seafood soup so much I ordered it three times! The house side salad is big, fresh, green and delicious. Everything we ordered was good. Dinner may take a while to come out but that is part of the experience. We spent the time soaking up the ambiance and talking with our fellow diners, many of whom we were also diving with on a daily basis.
2) Las Rocas does not provide beach towels. You should either bring your own, or purchase one when you get there.
3) The restaurant provides a big pot of good coffee for early risers, but they don’t provide cups. So, either bring your own cup, or use a paper water cup, or wait for the staff to break out the ceramic cups at breakfast time.
4) The dive boat goes out daily and usually comes back to the resort for surface intervals. The dive masters, boat captains, and dive shop staff were all great. They really made the diving easy and fun. My only complaint is that we never ventured very far from the resort to dive. One day we rounded the western tip of the island to dive a couple sites off the southwestern coast. Other than that, we just kept diving the same kind of big stressed-out reefs located near the main wall that runs along the northwest end of the island. It seemed like they were trying to save money on fuel. They do offer some cooler dives, but they charge more for them, and there is a six-diver minimum. So, unless you are diving with a large party it can be difficult to lobby enough other guest into chartering the premium dive sites. I think that’s an area for improvement. They resort staff should do a better job marketing, coordinating, and facilitating trips to the better dive sites. We would have been happy to pay extra but we lacked the mojo to assemble a crew of six.
Nichts!
Close to beach, beautiful
Showers were warm but would love a hot one
The resort is in a great location and the rooms are large. The breakfast is great and the staff are very friendly. I did my dive certification with Aaron and he was very patient, attentive and a good sense of humour. I’ll be back.
Location wonderful people to work with felt very comfortable and secure
The Wi-Fi was weak usually to make anything work on my phone. I had to turn the Wi-Fi off.
We ate at restaurant several times and food /service were excellent.
Marilyn was super, friendly, accommodating. Highly recommend eating here
My husband and I enjoyed everything about this stay. The location is perfect because it is an easy to walk to West Bay to the beach for restaurants and to snorkel. It is great to also escape all the tourists and relax on the dock or at the restaurant at Los Rocas because it is off the beaten path! The service was exceptional and the food was very good. The morning bird song was especially amazing. Macaws were often flying over and landing in the trees in the morning. Great place to stay that is fairly quiet and peaceful!!!
Clean, quiet and well furnished
Fantastic location, right on the ocean, beautiful views, lovely trees create refreshing shaded areas. Dive shop right on the property, awesome snorkeling and diving. The rooms were comfortable and super clean the staff was always friendly and more than accommodating. The breakfast was delicious and happy hour drinks yummy. Quiet at night for a refreshing and relaxed sleep environment.
The resort itself is clean rustic and overall a good resort. The restaurant/bar is good , food was delicious, we had some minor issues with a couple of the wait staff. We waited for two hours one night which sitting on wooden chairs was uncomfortable but portions are huge. Dive shop is ok. Some miscommunication from staff and inconsistent dive schedules made for some disappointment but overall diving was good. DM Aaron is a great dm as far as showing you whwre the sea life is but is constantly touching said sea life and picking things up. He lets you know right away he doesnt give a S$&@ if you dont like him and his mouth cause well hes from Canda and you can tell his boss if you dont like what he has to say. No one will do anything about it anyways. Aa he said its Honduras no one cares.
Las Rocas is a small, family owned resort which provides a wonderful experience for travellers. They provided free transport between the resort and the airport. Prior to our stay we had many questions, so we called or emailed, and the response was timely. The pluses are many - reasonable price, great breakfasts (did I mention that it was included in the price?) , staff that was warm, welcoming and accomodating - Winston and Marilyn in the restaurant/bar provided some of the most professional and personal service I have experienced, and the front desk staff were sooo helpful. The resort is set apart from the beach front area, sort of nestled in, which gives it a sense of exclusivity and calm. I found it to be very quiet, most of the guests were interested in diving and had busy days and quiet evenings. The rooms were clean and the size was adequate for our needs; the beds were basic and fine for us. We were in one of the top/bottom jungle bungalows - I recommend the top so that you have a view from the balcony. There is no TV, but internet was fine for streaming some movies. I would try one of the larger units on our next visit. If you are looking for authentic and personal, book with Las Rocas - you will be pleased.
