Außergewöhnliches Hotel mit bequemen Betten, sauberen Zimmern und freundlichem Personal.

Cons:

Das Abendessen besteht aus Suppe, Hauptgang und Salat. An einem Abend war die Resonanz nicht nur bei uns nicht gut. Es gab Zwiebelsuppe und eine gewöhnungsbedürftige Nudel-Lachs-Mischung, welche auch andere Hotelgäste als „schwierig“ bezeichneten. Hier fehlt leider die Auswahl.

Absolut empfehlenswert- ungewöhnlich
Pros:

Sehr besonderer Ort. Gut gemachtes Konzept. Essen und Frühstück sehr gut. Sehr komfortabel. Wenn man normale Fenster möchte, sollte man eine höhere Kategorie buchen. Sehr gute Lage.

Незабываемый опыт
Pros:

Отличное месторасположение. Недалеко от отеля есть бесплатная парковка. Сам отель просто невероятный, в историческом здании тюрьмы. Прекрасный завтрак.

Cons:

Нет бесплатной или недорогой парковки для гостей отеля. Ужин был достаточно скромен.

Hotel quality going downhill
Pros:

Hotel is unique since it is old prison. Bed was okay. Overall okay place to stay even now.

We have visited this hotel now many times. We were here for multiple staycations during covid, we got engaged and spend our wedding night here. We trusted that the hotel had decent quality and all the services we wanted when we recerved it this time, but NO:

They have removed Chromecast option from TVs for some odd reason. It was here some years ago but not anymore. Additionally you cannot rent movies or get HDMI cable for loan from hotel so we had no way to watch any movies. This is a big deal because the one thing we want from hotel is to be able to relax in a nice bed watching fun movie and eating snacks. It is a bit of a tradition of me and my wife. True I could have checked Chromecast availability beforehand, but again I'm returning customer and I don't expect progress to move backwards.

Restaurant quality has decreased quite alot. The second important thing we look for in a hotel is nice breakfast. Again we trusted our good old option here, but it seems that we shouldn't have. It is a lot of little things: the selection has decreased, there were only apple based juices (my wife is allergic), there used to be selection of different coffees and now only one etc.

You might notice that there is dinner included. Previously the dinner restaurant was this nice ala carte restaurant. Nowadays there is very basic buffet meal served, which is roughly the quality of your usual workplace lunch. While fine it is not what we are looking for when we stay at the hotel.

Finally the price of all of this has just gone up. To the point that it was comparable to for example Lapland Hotels in Helsinki, hotel that we know for excellent quality breakfast and restaurant. Only reason we booked Katajanokka hotel instead of Lapland was that it was better known to us. Next time we will go elsewhere.

Very sad and disappointed to see our favourite hotel in Helsinki go downhill.

Ett annorlunda hotell med häftig design. Vackert och väldoftande. Vi kände oss mycket väl bemötta och trivdes utmärkt. God mat och service.

Tolles Hotel, in dem wir immer wieder übernachten würden
Pros:

Tolles Frühstück mit viel Auswahl und leckeres Abendessen. Schöne Zimmer, ruhig, sehr bequeme Betten. Nah am Wasser und an der Fähre Richtung Estland, fußläufig (15min) in die Innenstadt. Freundliches Personal, insgesamt entspanntes und gemütliches Hotel. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Aamupala oli erinomainen. Sijainti oli hyvä koska tulimme Tallinnasta Vikingillä Katajanokalle. Päivällinen oli mukava yllätys.

Pros:

Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral und trotzdem sehr ruhig - da macht sich eben die exponierte Lage des ehemaligen Gefängnisgebäudes bemerkbar. Hinter den hohen Mauern gibt es erst einmal einen großen Hof mit Parkplätzen, Bänken und Liegewiesen, das kann kein anderes Hotel bieten. Es gibt neben Frühstück auch zur Kaffezeit Kleinigkeiten und ein Abendessen, was großen Zuspruch erfährt. Die Zimmer sind komfortabel und auch groß genug, da man 2 Zellen zusammengelegt hat. Insgesamt absolut klasse und unvergleichlich, freundliches Personal, es gibt einfach nichts zu meckern. Das innere Zentrum der Stadt liegt in bequemer fußläufiger Entfernung.
