Nice hotel, nice staff, unfortunate that air condition was not working during a heatwave.
Pros:

Room was clean, staff were friendly and very responsive in person. Nice little Nespresso machine in room.

Cons:

Unfortunately the air conditions were broken which made the rooms very hot. We were provided with 2 fans but that did very little to provide a comfortable nights sleep during a heatwave. Also parking was surprisingly expensive! Was very difficult to get any one on phone prior to arrival to arrange parking. We didn't do breakfast as was quite expensive (quoted £25 per person!)

Very good but bar service needs some work!
Pros:

Room was excellent and despite that lack of air conditioning it was great. Two fans in the room really helped - and was appropriate.

Cons:

The bar service was appalling. I know there was a wedding but it wasn't a big wedding. I stood at the bar for about 10 minutues without anyone even acknowledging me and saying apologies, I will come to you! I was invisible. The bar itself was a real mess which obviously says alot about either lack of bar staff or those bar staff understanding how important it is to have a clear working space and the impression that makes on guests!

Excellent and I want to go back.
Pros:

This is the kind of place where the staff actually try to remember your name and therefore address you by it each time they meet you in the Hotel. It's a really nice touch that doesn't cost any hotel a thing to do, but sets them apart. The air conditioned room was lovely and the aircon was quiet, so it was totally ok to have it on all night and not be disturbed by it. The food was excellent also and they provided a free large bottle of water in the room (a small touch but nice). I would love to come and visit again.

Cons:

To be honest it's very hard to say. So I am just being picky. The mattress was not as comfortable as a more recent stay in a much cheaper hotel but it was fine, I still slept pretty well. For some reason the shower head over the bath was at the sloping end of the bath so made it a little awkward to get max benefit from it.

Expensive but you get what you pay for
Pros:

Arrived earlier than check in time of 3pm but was allocated a room at 12.30, so we could make use of the pool straight away. Hot day of 31C so we were very happy we could do that. Reception ordered us a taxi for the following morning to take us to the train station in plenty of time. All three nights we stayed, we used the pool before breakfast & during the day, it's why we pay the extra money to stay there every time we are in Exeter. Short walk to the City centre shops etc & down to the Riverside. Breakfasts are fantastic and worth paying extra for. Freshly cooked for you with a lovely view of the garden.

Cons:

Air conditioning was broken again, but they provided a fan, which we had on for the whole time overnight & so it was bearable even at 20C. We also left the window open but it wasn't too noisey even 'though England were playing a World Cup Quarter Final. A few shouts from the street, that was all.

It was OK but needs some care and better staff training. Wouldn't go back.
Pros:

Room was fine although hot as air conditioning broken. We knew about this pre arrival though and there was a fan in the room. Bathroom was really spacious

Cons:

The outside restaurant / bar area was shabby - weeds growing in garden, hose pipe left out and just looking as if it needed care. Staff were pleasant but had to order food twice for lunch and for drinks in the evening we were asked is they could have an email address so they could book us onto the system - even though they knew we hadn't booked and knew our room number. All this before we could even get drinks! We ordered a few light things but when they arrived - really quickly so obviously put in microwave, one dish was so derisory we refused to have it and sent it back. It was supposed to be a starter of melon and ham for £16.50. What it actually was - 5 less than a centimetre square pieces of melon and 5 small finger nail pieces of ham spread out on a dinner plate. It was shameful and embarrassing.

Great place shame they don’t fix the Air con
Pros:

Staff were amazing especially Elle serving drinks at the pool. She is an asset to the hotel.

Cons:

The Air conditioning was down and the rooms are literally like a Furness so no sleep for anyone staying in the hotel. If it’s broken fix it
